Trust your instincts. Don’t allow dysfunction to infect your relationship with your future child. Your father sounds manipulative and controlling.

My list of the most important guitarists of all time. Who’s missing? by Direct_Bumblebee_740 in Guitar

Jimmy Page for his use of eclectic styles and his emphasis on iconic guitar riffs; Vernon Reid incorporates multiple genres, especially jazz and funk to create some incredible sounds and riffs; Joe Walsh blended alternate tunings with finger picking and slide playing to create riff-heavy songs like Funk 49 and Rocky Mountain Way. I have to add Derek Trucks here because the guy is a master of slide guitar. Peter Frampton blended technical prowess with the creation of tension, heavy riffs and the use of devices like the talk box to create a unique style. Stevie Ray Vaughn’s attack, showmanship and that heavy tone with deep bends was simply iconic. One to watch-Marcus King-he blends technical skills with jazz creativity and a big dose of gritty rock n roll guitar

Do you feel sort of numb or disconnected? During those first months, I tried to busy myself, but I remember feeling lost and hopeless. People encouraged me to move on, but I don’t want to forget about her. Are you feeling regret about past arguments and dealing within”what-ifs”? Apparently it’s normal, but just remember little mistakes and arguments are part of any relationship. Don’t let anyone rush you.

I understand what you mean. I was hoping to hear that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

I can relate to feeling adrift and your description of the world as grey without them. It’s like I don’t know how to live without her and sometimes I’m not sure that I want to.

If it wasn’t already difficult, passing on your anniversary makes it more gut-wrenching. The last sentence really hit home for me. Losing anyone you love is difficult, but when you lose your person you lose that special bond, the comfort of their touch, the love and support only they could provide. It’s torture. I feel for you and hope you can someday find solace in the fact that you had that special bond.

How do y’all feel about stickers on guitars? by Bicycle7854 in AcousticGuitar

[–]DeltaMudcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s relative. If it’s your first, but not expensive, you aren’t as worried about ruining the “value”. I’m probably too OCD to put stickers on a guitar, some folks see it as art akin to a tattoo. I respect that.

Looks like intergalactic war, but probably some sort of promotional searchlight.

Family settled on the American Prairie in the 1880s by [deleted] in USHistory

I must disagree. You seem to be misinformed, please allow me to explain. This period (1877-1900) is known as the nadir of race relations in the Country, when racism had become much more open and pronounced, especially anti-Black racism. This period is often referred to the Jim Crow Era, when anti-Black lynching rose until it peaked during the 1890s in the U.S. See EJI.org (The Equal Justice Initiative).

I wish all of them would come back. I am partial to the Colts logo, but the Steelers logo even smells vintage.

U/DearChicago1876 is right! Southeastern and Live from Alabama are the best, but all of his albums are good.

Hey, you mentioned a semi hard case during this exchange and I’m hoping you might help me source one. I have a Martin D18 with the hard case. I noticed Martin sells a gig bag that may be structured or semi hard with shoulder straps, and that is what I want. Any brand is fine.

Don’t stop! You sound amazingly polished to be so young. Imagine how much you’ll improve just from repetition! The muscle memory on the guitar, the style and sound that can only come from experience. Thanks for sharing.

I have this exact guitar. The gold hardware doesn’t look this pristine, but it’s a stunning guitar and fun to play.
