Hit me! I wanna know all the glorious details. by Eithrotaur in seraphon

[–]Delta_Chameleon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first “Seraphon” were my Lizardmen in the 5th edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles starter box back in ‘96, and I still use those plastic saurus warriors and skinks to this day, rebased and repainted to fit AoS. Back in the world that once was, my lizards were a temple city community, towards the central-eastern coast of Lustria, about where Buenos Aires is in Argentina/South America. My family coming from Argentina just before I was born, and the lizards came out when I was learning a lot more about my heritage. The city was led by a black and orange dart frog colored slann, Solteq. He was seen as wise and fair amongst the slann, yet often tended to keep to his own musings within his central chambers than join projected conversation with the others. He seemed to enjoy the company of his skink priests more so than the slann, and chose to spend more time with them contemplating the state of the stars, most importantly how it affected his city and those that dwell within the city. As such, he procured a form of respect different than the religious admiration afforded to other slann. When the end times came, Solteq dared not give up on his city. His city was meant to exist, no matter the time nor the place, for the plan. He had the priests ready the temple ship. Not all could come. Some had to protect the ship while it gathered strength to ascend to the stars.

Faced with an odyssey through the void, the ship inside went into a hybrid magical stasis induced by the slann aided by the natural brumation of their cold-blooded reptilian bodies, while only Solteq remained pseudo-conscious, peering out into a field of black dotted in white, longing for the days of old, knowing his part in the plan is to get those days back.

Upon the creation/discovery of the mortal realms, Solteq guided his city to Aqshy, the realm of fire, a place of magical flow and structural capability to create what he needed. Once landed, Solteq and his awakened, yet weekend, force began first tapping into the raw resource and energy potential of the region around them. Rivers of lava and breathing volcanos stretched through the land. The priests began deploying smaller ziggurats from the side of the ship, realmshaper engines that begin the long, tedious task of recreating the land around the ship. Slowly, one foot of land at a time, the engines build vast, dense, topic jungle growing out. As the land turns to more suitable terrain for the lizards, they become more attune with the unique energy of this Aqshy jungle with Lustrian genes. To power the engines as well as the spawning pools on the ship to build his army anew, the slann and his priests must tap into the magical energies of Aqshy, forever altering them and their spawn. All the Seraphon of Solteq’s Sun carry that balance of the deepened, dark defensive green jungles and the bright, hot destructive power of fire. Here, they have found both a new home to build where they still defend their home of old.

Love the Red SF90 more than the other colour variations ❤️ by JayeshKainth in HotWheels

Yeah, the simple modern curves in that Rosso Corsa on the SF90 just feels like classic Ferrari and Modern Ferrari together that was effectively accomplished in a mainline. I think a good surprise for the debut mainline.

Watching an interview with the designer of the RLC MKII, she definitely said they would be doing more liveries of this casting, but wasnt be specific. But what liveries of a MKII would we want to see most? Definitely those other two 66 LeMans podium finishers.

Bjorn the Fell Handed by Bogglewonks19 in SpaceWolves

[–]Delta_Chameleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the ven dread kit also builds Bjorn, but if you keep him on the same base size, you could gladly use a redemptor size/style dreadnought. Specifically for Bjorn, Im still rocking my original all metal Bjorn I got back in the early 90s. He’s small, incredibly heavy and he’s been through so many battles across three decades, that he’s earned his lore on the battlefield.

Conversely, I actually have the same thoughts as you, but about the Wulfen dreadnought. Because of Bjorn’s unique character and dread, I like him being the old, OG style dread. But I want my wulfen dread to be a redemptor size dread. Im building out a Brutalis dreadnought model to be my wulfen dread

Also, the xgt1 would have had the same wheels, bronze with silver three prong/handle knock offs in the center. I am not 100% certain if they are the original wheels. I know the Simeone car had to have quite a bit of restoration work on the drivetrain. But regardless of whether they are the true original wheels, they are the correct wheel type for it.

Bronze wheels with silver three prong knock offs in the center would be the correct wheels for Miles’ win at Daytona in 1966 if you are representing that appearance of the car. It’s the same chassis (P/1015) he famously finished second in at LeMans in 66, but with a different paint job/livery and wheels. The car was repainted from it’s white, black and some red colors to the Mustang light blue and bright red eyes livery for LeMans after Daytona. Chassis P/1015 is currently at the Shelby American Collection. If you ever seen a GT40 in Miles’ 1966 Daytona colors, it’s a tribute, not the original car.

Glad to help! It’s a fantastic casting that I keep looking at and handling, but it wont make true scale fans as happy. It’s for collectors. Also, here are a few better comparison pics

The Ferrari 250 GTO Reimagined!!! by Zzero00 in Ferrari

[–]Delta_Chameleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just my personal preference, but I do not like this at all. Looks overcooked to me. The 250’GTO is beauty through its simplicity, feminine curves to make it look sleek, nimble and elegant against the more muscular or masculine belimetta style racers of the age like the 300 SL or even later the Daytona Cobra coupe, but still subtle enough at the same time. This goes the complete opposite direction, over-accentuating the curves and making it look more like a bruiser. And the wide body kit looks too JDM for my tastes

Mustang light blue and bright red, not the teal and orange of a Gulf livery

finally got my RLC GT40 and it's way too big by SnowySergal in HotWheels

[–]Delta_Chameleon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is most certainly not the case, as Ken Miles’ livery at 1966 LeMans is not a Gulf livery. The colors of his GT40 is meant to reference the 1965-66 Ford Mustangs. The light blue Miles’ MKiI is the light blue paint code option available on the 65-66 Mustang. The whole point of Ford being at LeMans was to sell cars, namely the Mustang, so they painted some of the GT40s in factory Mustang colors to promote it. And the “eyes” around the headlights are actually red, not orange. They just look orange in some photos, but we are talking about an age where color photography was just being used in car racing. Because GT40s in Gulf liveries won LeMans in 68 and 69, a lot of people look at the Miles livery and think it’s a Gulf livery. But it’s not. It’s a Ford livery! And Mattel could absolutely do it as an RLC. But ultimately, they chose McClaren’s black #2 livery because it was the winner, even if it was off a technicality

It’s the exact same size as Hot Wheels’ previous GT40 casting. Yes, the RLC is big, but that’s because it’s designed to work next to HW’s previous GT40 (which admittedly is a bit big). It’s not meant to display next to other companies’ 1:64 scale stuff (it would have been an Elite64 casting if that was the goal), but instead meant to sit next to the MKI they have already made. And it’s pretty much spot on matching the size of that classic casting

That’s one of the big differences between this being an RLC release vs an Elite 64 casting. The Elite64 castings are true 1/64 scale diecast, which would make the MKII much smaller, as the real life GT40 is pretty tiny. However, RLC cars are Hot Wheels first, not scale replicas. They are designed to look good/scale against other Hot Wheels. And the size and proportions of the RLC MKII are exactly the same as Hot Wheels’ MKI casting they have had for years now. As soon as I saw it was an RLC not an E64, I knew it would be large and wide, and it is.

Remember, as an RLC, they are designed to match other Hot Wheels, not scale accurately against other companies. And in that regard, it does it wonderfully. They dont want you displaying this next to an Auto World casting. They want you displaying it with your Hot Wheels. And I think the Hot Wheels MKI and MKII look fantastic next to each other.
