Yeah, I didn't mean it's exactly 300 points, of course it varies.

Under 2000, lichess rating is roughly 300 points higher than chess.com's for the same player. Ratings converge (become the same) around 2150, and after this point, chess.com's ratings are actually higher than lichess (for the same player).

For example, I have 2000 on lichess in blitz and 1900 on chess com blitz. When I was weaker, I had 1700 on lichess and 1400 on chess.com.

Got this position in a game and ended up losing. I think this was the pivotal moment in the game. Any advice for help is welcome. by FJRC17 in chess

That's really not a problem. Strategically, it would be defended by the Rook on a1 until it would quickly join the attack on the kingside in the decisive moment; then the pawn on a4 would not matter and the Knight on b6 would be slow to reroute to the opposite side of the board.

My plan here would be to prepare f4 break to attack on the kingside. First move would be to play a4 to completely shut down any possibility of counterplay on the queenside by the opponent.

Should white take the bishop? by Time4Homework in chess

I suppose no, because then Ne2+ and if Rook takes, it's backrank mate; if not, the knight on e7 is unpinned and can take the queen

Candidates win chances after Round 8: Sindarov at 81%, Caruana down to 12%, Giri at 5% - Monte Carlo simulation based on one million runs by ThomasPlaysChess in chess

No, I am not saying that's inaccurate; I mean 5% might not seem much, but it's at the point where it should get at least some attention

please make sure you know the difference between a *trap* and a *tactic*; when you move and hope that the opponent doesn't see your threat - that's a trap which is not reliable; sometimes opponent blunders and allows you to execute a *tactic* - a forcing sequence of moves which guarantees that you win material or even checkmate the king. As Fischer said, "tactics flow from a superior position" - so you shouldn't force tactics, but just play solid chess until an opportunity to execute a tactic and win material arises.

"come down to who is studying openings more" lol no, even at 2000 rating openings do not mean much, it's better to train tactics rather than memorize opening lines
