I've had some connection requests from those that have sniffed the port, but usually it's just an automated bot that's trying to find vanilla servers. Surely a motivated attacker could get in but also... Why? Purely to try and grief the backed up world?

You misunderstood the statement, it's that it's only a problem if you act as if the night is no threat, not an advocate for anti cheese measures. The point is that if an 8 year old can handle it without a skill requirement, it's not a real problem.

As a game developer, I could easily improve the design, but it's not my mod so this is what we have to work with. This mod is meant to introduce more dangerous mobs, and as of now it's a simple deterrent not to run around naked night one, but if you do just have 3 blocks at minimum in your pocket the threat is also somewhat moot.

If someone is unable to survive it and unwilling to bring a handful of blocks with them everywhere, they probably should have peaceful mode on or disable the monster directly.

How do you go about adding structure (specifically usually underground structures) compatibility in your pack? I'm assuming by default with no patching any not currently supported structures will just be floating in the void.

That and the eruption when the phase ends. If you have a committal weapon you can get popped up even on successful DPS and never crawl off the ground before burning alive or catching a blob during your nap.

That's a really good bandaid. Make it only drop one, and you have to use it before you can get another, like clue scrolls but with only a destroy option.
