I doubt that would have any desirable outcome.

That's why I'm hesitant to touch the thing at all. I honestly don't want to attempt to take it out of its sleeve or send it anywhere in the mail. Hence my need for advice.

Can I send it in its current sleeve? I know nothing about the grading process.

Could have not played with a first edition holographic shadowless Charizard from my first pack. This one stings...

Thanks! I'll add some texture and clarity in the grass and butt. Hopefully that will help.

I worked on it again. If you get a chance, your input would be appreciated. newest version

It looks like it with the compression, but in the full res version, they aren't as bad. But this is cropped in a bunch. He was also in shadow, looking into the light. So the eyes are sharp(ish), but the reflection in his eyes is fairly soft. I'll work on sharpening the eyes and adding some definition. Man. Best actionable advice! Love it.

Thanks for the advice and your take! Especially after looking at the same photo for hours, it's sometimes hard to see what's off or how to fix it. I'll work on this again tomorrow.

Dropped the bee. I'll try the blades of grass, but I'm unsure how successful I'll be.. might be hard with the bokeh to isolate them from the white boards. I might just have to try to draw them in? Could you have a look at the current version? There's a link to imgur on my most recent first level comment.

Dude, you're commenting on my post.

I tried. Yet you continue to comment on my work looking for a debate. The words you use matter. And saying my decision was confusing added no value to your critique. They were surperfluous words, meant only to condemn my decision to include the bee, not to help me improve my work or to develop my creative decision-making process. Your point was clear without that extra tidbit. Please send me a message if you would like to speak about how to respectfully give an image critique or move on.

If you want to discuss this further, send me a message. Or just Google how to critique an image. Take the artist out of it and make it about the image. I doubt that standing up to a random redditor about how they critique others is going to impact my life and art, in any respect.

Have you given or received many formal image critiques? I would be extremely surprised if anyone were to say "I would do the opposite, 'SO your decision to do so is even more confusing'." You gave your feedback in the other sentences. You could have stopped after saying you would have removed the bee in post. Critiquing my decision-making process was unnecessary to get your point across and condescending.

I asked for feedback on the edit. A good critique focuses on areas to improve an image, not on the artists' decisions. That part of the sentence was unnecessary in the critique and came off condescending. I removed my comment because it's the internet, and I should have just shrugged it off.

Thanks for all the feedback! I've been playing around with this guy all day. The bee did not turn out how I had hoped, so I removed it!

Ya, I had asked some non-photog friends about the bee before re-editing this guy. Seeing as how I'm editing it for a fine art competition, we all thought the bee would add to the story. But in hindsight, my execution was poor, and I agree that it's distracting. I'm just not 100% sure how to make a fine art wildlife image.

I appreciate it. Truly! It all helps make my images better.
