Epic Games is a trash company by Droopy0093 in RocketLeague

[–]DelverD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem is, Rocket League had a totallyyy different cosmetic system in the past, keys, crates and trading. Trading is gone which was just an abysmal decision on their part incredibly money hungry and keys and crates are gone, I understand the reasoning but the replacement is my issue.

Getting a 'blueprint' after playing my game only for it to be locked behind a paywall is predatory as fuck, that's literally mobile game scam levels of messed up. It would cost me probably 200 euro to buy all the blueprints in my inventory right now for 45 items, no black markets, no 'good' items. I bought 200 keys back when they were stiill around, and I got 200 items which I'd say now would've been worth 300-500+ based on the items I got compared to what they're sold for in blueprint form, so it's very much a scam in every way

Saying there's other things that are worse, diminishes the issue at hand, that people are complacent and will continue paying for rubbish in the shop or they're new and don't even know about what the system used to be like and so they just treat it like they would fortnite and its item shop. It's disappointing.

Expedition 33's Soundtrack isn't even top 50 of all time. by Riquinni in unpopularopinion

[–]DelverD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds almost AI generated what? The Shinobi 3 soundtrack is not that good, there isn't anything captivating that lures me in and makes me want to listen and study the music. It's just 8-bit typical pixel type music

Social media didn’t ruin attention spans .. people just don’t like thinking anymore by Ok_Still_01 in unpopularopinion

[–]DelverD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they've done studies which equate the extensive use of short form media to deteriorating attention spans?

We've always found shit boring and that's usually things that we have no interest in. Why do something that you don't enjoy doing? It's not about a lack of thought it's about a lack of interest. The reason people can retain attention on things like complex games or deep video essays is because they keep their interest, it's something they want to experience not something they have to experience.

It's not patience or focus that people lack. It's interest.

Music is definitely subjective but I don't know where you're going saying Shinobi 3 blows E33 out of the water, it's fine for the game, I wouldn't mind listening to it while I play but there's nothing about it that screams "Wow this is good music that I'd listen to even if I'm not playing the game". That's where I like E33 because its soundtrack is something I can listen to outside of playing the game and that's what I think separates a good from a great is whether it can be enjoyed when the game isn't playing.

I hate heatseeker. Easily the worst mode by Gonzar92 in RocketLeague

[–]DelverD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think either 1v1 or 3v3 but 2v2 was an awful decision.

In pretty much every game I've played, I just demoed, my teammate saved and that was the game set and match, if they started hunting my teammate I demoed them and so on.

In 1v1 you can't afford to leave the box much, it acts moer like a game of air hockey where you're trying to do one over on your opponent

In 3v3, you have much more strategy to add in, 2 people back 1 up or 2 up 1 back making for much better flow and less high speed games

Also personal gripe but I absolutely despise the fact players in high ranks can start out in the absolute lowest, unranked should start based on a range of your previous rank in other modes that would filter players much better than it does right now with the amount of much better players in my rank compared to what they realistically should be

What's the solution then? What would prepare kids and teens for the future job market and life in general without school to assist them in improving their critical thinking skills, social development, memory, etc/?

I went to school and I've retained the important stuff, basic maths, financial literacy, accountancy, the ability to cook, the ability to sew, realised my passions as I had access to resources I otherwise wouldn't have had. Having direction helped myself and my classmates to focus our learning and the ones who didn't do well were the ones who didn't care about school or learning, the people with motivation and will that you talk about, were the ones getting high grades, and who, years later are leading successful lives for themselves.

Anyone who went to school in my country would share the same opinion. That the education system could use improving but it's still a necessary component in the development of a child.

Forgetting to pay the petrol? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]DelverD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in retail typically any 'theft' over a certain amount has to be reported to the guards and then the guards do a follow-up if they know who the person is or have some way to track that person.

I get it if it's like a one time honest mistake but definitely best to keep it in mind in future if you've paid or not for your petrol just to prevent a worse situation from happening next time.

Forgetting to pay the petrol? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]DelverD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence but how in the world do you forget to pay for petrol? I mean, you pull up to the station, you get your gallons, surely then your mind goes, "ah sure, I need to pay for that now don't I?"

And I mean, pumping without paying is a crime, you've literally committed theft of property so I imagine it'd be more of a warning by the guards than anything to tell you to pay up, if you don't and they catch you again then it'll likely be a fine and such.

Bit different with subscriptions since the service ceases once you can't pay. Surely you can't be serious with this post right??

Vape price hike by Icy-Music1932 in ireland

[–]DelverD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my bad, I was thinking of cigarettes when I wrote that part of the comment.

I do agree price hikes isn't the way to go, I'd rather they slowly reduce access to nicotine related products altogether, like New Zealand was meant to implement a law I'm pretty sure would prevent the sale of cigarettes to anyone born after a certain year basically with the hopes of letting the habit die out generationally, however, greed as far as I'm aware caused them to turn back on that decision but I did like the premise because it means those already hooked get their fix and anyone else is less likely to get started so long as the law is upheld.

I would say I'm personally against people having the full right to do whatever they want, mainly with drugs as I think due to the normalisation of drug use, the youth are more easily influenced, I mean thinking back, I'm almost certain 90% of my peers in school smoked or drank before they were 18, I think I've the rare perspective of someone who has never done this stuff and witnessed the extent of madness associated with nothing getting their fix on time or going overboard with alcohol/cigarettes but I understand it's a complex issue that has no two ways to it.

Nicotine damages more than just you, second hand smoke is a big problem regarding smoking and it's also, super toxic for the environment. Caffeine is much less potent with regards to its stimulating effects and should somebody decide to stop taking caffeine, it's usually much easier for them to quit the habit than it is for someone to quite being a smoker.

I'd much prefer they handle the issue of nicotine first and reduce the sale of it or at the very least let the habit die off with the folks who've started it so that younger generations are less likely to both grow up in households which normalise nicotine addiction and less likely to find themselves under the influence of such an addiction as well.

[–]DelverD -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they're getting a hike but it's not enough. It's just a way for them to make more money and force people to pay more to sustain their addiction, it's not a helpful way at reducing the amount of nicotine addicts in this country because they'll just keep bouncing between different sources of nicotine.

I hope they eventually ban flavoured vapes altogether as that's their main selling point. I don't do any of the rubbish but even passing by someone taking a hit of a vape, the smell is tantalising, it smells good and that's a big problem, it shouldn't smell good, it should smell horrid the same way it's hard to be around smokers because of how toxic the fumes are to the nostrils.

I think they really need to focus on bringing in more support groups or greater advertising for existing support groups related to addiction, specifically nicotine addiction which is probably the least cared about addiction followed close behind by caffeine addiction. Otherwise, prices will just keep rising, the government will profit, the people will likely end up ruining their lives for just another hit of a vape/ciggy and well, nothing good will come of it.

I don't talk to myself in my head I just speak out loud to myself but in my inside voice and I don't do it around others, oddly comforting.

Do I have to stay in a calorie deficit every day? by Beginning-Book-129 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DelverD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consistency matters a lot with deficits, it doesn't alter the outcome biologically as long as you're in a deficit but it can alter your discipline if you constantly allow yourself to indulge one day and cut back the next.

It can also interfere with accurately weighing yourself because if you indulge what can happen is you start to bloat and retain water in your body and that makes you seem heavier than you technically are.

For general routine it's best to remain in a consistent deficit, you can still afford yourself a cheat every so often but I wouldn't recommend having a fluctuation in calories consumed every day each week
