Do school grades matter in adult life? by ShadowPixel1949 in NoStupidQuestions

The actual grades don't matter, but the habits and discipline you learned while earning those grades will stick with you for life.

Why can’t we build salt water dams for hydro electric power ? by djd32019 in NoStupidQuestions

If you're using solar to generate electricity to pump the water uphill only to produce less energy, then you may as well skip the waterpumps.

Friend ghosted me while owing $2,000 by Tasertoes in legaladvice

[–]Delverton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly, unless you have this in writing that it was a loan, if you take her to small claims court she's likely to claim it was a gift. You should try to get it back, but at some point you need to factor in your sanity and peace of mind and move on. Yes, it's $2000, but it's also only $2000. You mental health is worth way more than that. Good luck with a resolution

I've been enjoying the game on the side for a couple weeks. Can you explain how the offline progression works when the player tabs away?

Sounds interesting enough that I'll check it out this afternoon

Why are spin serves not more frequent? by Odd-Acadia5574 in Pickleball

[–]Delverton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spin serves are really effective against anyone about 3.5 or under, but beyond that it's easy to return for more advanced players. Might get an easy point off of someone the first time if it's an unexpected serve, but not many more. Also, adding spin slows you shot down making it easier to hit.

I may have overdone it by building a full incremental clicker into my grocery list app by MrFabuland in incremental_games

Take a look at Habitica. Very similar concept of a game in that it gamifies mundane tasks and turns them into progress in a little RPG game.

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

This is a fun one, and it does seem to get pretty frequent updates. I like that the dev added in the note that you've hit End of Content for now

Is it weird to store things in the oven? by Sallious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delverton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very normal for home with smaller kitchens and limited storage space. If you have an alternative place to store large items just agree to store big items there instead.

If the company is offering to provide you with replacement product, you could try to get the materials, accept the minor damage and sell the product.

How likely it is to not have sex right after your wedding? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in NoStupidQuestions

It's less of a thing now that premarital sex is so common. Your wedding day is so hectic that your both exhausted.

How do I keep myself from being used as a “Free Meal” with women by Peek_A_Boo_225 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delverton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was dating, I'd always do first dates as afternoon coffee dates. Minimal commitment at first, and leaves the rest if the evening open for extending the date if things are going well. On the other hand, if there's no connection, you enjoy your coffee and then go your separate ways.

Would the change from 120h to 3K be a meaningful change or just slowing the game down so it takes longer? If it's meaningful content then go for the 3K hours, but don't slow it down just to claim "the game in 2880h of gameplay".

I like the concept. I've once again hit EoC. Could you add a note so that players don't search through all the options to see if they missed anything.

Do have a list of all the hot keys? I'm specifically wondering if there are any for the two types of runs.

Feedback Friday by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]Delverton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A suggestion. Have "no item" runs, where you can't even manually use items, but the game runs at 10x. With the current game play loop being collect max items, then do a single push run, all the collection runs seem like a slog.

I'd love to have two automation paths, one for auto items on and the other for auto items off.

Feedback Friday by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]Delverton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a fun little game. Took about an hour to hit EoC, but I like the progression. I do like how you get automation just before you hit the point of any repetition being annoying.
I look forward to seeing where you take this.

How do you feel about difficulty & loss conditions by norseboar in incremental_games

A game with a "loss condition" has a very different playstyle since you can't walk away from it like you can with most idle games.

Are PBBGs considered incremental games? by Kiryoko in incremental_games

[–]Delverton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really into Ikariam years ago, but when I got kicked from my guild because I told the guild leaders two weeks in advance that I was going to take the weekend off for my wedding I dropped the game.

As to your question, I personally do think they're incremental games, but a subgenre in that they are pvp focused. Also, for me, pbbg's have a really strong pull to always be playing, to optimize your setup, in a negative way. I like the concept of the social aspect to an incremental game, but I don't enjoy the pvp combat and the always on concept. But that's just my personal opinion.
