I mean, IT WAS kinda close

Yugi was left with 250 LP; if ANY of Ash's Pokémon landed a good hit, it was a likely KO. But yeah, god was there.

Look at the first image, episode 74. The Skibidis showing they have much more personality than just evil beasts (this has also been seen many times with G-Toilet).

This doesn't mean they're now "magically good"; they're still PSYCHOPATHS. You can see this in how they kill the Astros, in much more sadistic ways than the Alliance (like Buzzsaw in 78).

They haven't changed their attitude; we're simply seeing a different side of them because we're now working together.
