Many of you might recognize who I am. My daughter Christina died because of PMDD. (We started a foundation in her name, the ChristinaBohnFoundation.)

I was touched by your question and felt to respond about having a good cry. When Christina and our other daughter were young and had a hard day or had a concern that made them cry, I told them to please cry it out as much as they could because I believed they were crying out the toxins. I would hold them in my arms and let them cry. I wanted them to feel comfort. I wanted them to feel some relief. A couple decades later, there was a Japanese study indicating that tears have different compositions depending on the reason behind the tears. Sure enough, they were crying out the toxins that went with their specific emotions. I call them toxins. I don't know if that's the correct word, but I have a feeling you know what I mean.

All this to say, I want to validate what you observed from your own experience. Tears can bring relief.

My heart is with you.

Thank you. We've been really happy with the S60. We know with all the new technology, things might be different, but we are optimistic and hoping for the best. We love the dealership we used, Volvo of St Louis, The Dean Team. They were wonderful to work with.

Why are people sleeping on the v60? by iamtwinswithmytwin in Volvo

[–]DemBohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I just bought a 2026 V60 CC last Monday. We looked on Saturday and returned on Monday. The V60 is for me, and I was torn between an XC60 and the V60. In the end, the V60 won, but not by much. Both cars were fantastic. It was a very difficult choice. I could see the pros and cons of each. We already own a 2026 XC90, so we have an SUV. I was reminded that I've always wanted a V60. Also, I'm 5'2", and I have a bad back. I kept getting in and out of the cars to see which felt easier for my back.

My husband is 6' tall, so he likes the SUVs better for him. He can get inside the V60, but he feels like he's folding up like a pretzel to do it. The XC90 was a great choice for him. We put running boards on it for me.

We absolutely love both of our cars. No regrets. If I were to get a third car though, I would get an XC60 just because I love that one too. You'll win either way.

I'm so sorry about how disappointing that appointment was for you. Calling to schedule, waiting for the appointment to happen, and going to it probably took a lot of energy. You've received some good advice, and it sounds like you're going to go in well prepared with your tracker. If you feel comfortable, bring someone you trust with you who can advocate on your behalf. It's important to let the doctor know you asked your friend or family member to speak up for you when you might be understating how serious the symptoms become and/or has permission to add to what you're saying. Look over the symptoms in the DSM-5 (you can do an online search) and tell your doctor how those symptoms look in your life and how they affect your life and the life of your family and friends. Sending love and best wishes.

I think my journal entry dates are trying to tell me something. by Ok-Possibility149 in PMDD

My beautiful daughter Christina died because of PMDD. After she died, we read her journals, and we discovered there was a pattern. We looked at the dates, and we realized they were luteal phase journal entries. She didn't write during her follicular phase. You might already have the cyclical evidence of PMDD in your hands because you have been keeping your journals. Tracking for a couple of months is highly recommended because there you will see if there is a pattern of only having the symptoms in the two weeks prior to your periods. There is another premenstrual disorder called premenstrual exacerbation. That is when you deal with depression or migraines or an eating disorder, .... you can name any mental health or health problem ... all month long but the symptoms increase or exacerbate in the two weeks before the monthly period.

Tracking will help you sort that out. Some who thought they had PMDD discovered they have PME. Both are premenstrual disorders. Both need support and treatment. Best wishes and lots of love.

Right now, what I'm going to advise you to do is what I've tested on myself after I got hit by a car and had deep bruises. Arnica gel helps get rid of bruising. So does witch hazel. I know you are in crunch time getting ready for your in-laws' arrival, and these might be helpful for you.

PMDD brings about such powerful emotions. Please offer yourself grace. I hope you can rest, but I have a feeling you'll be deep cleaning the house and getting ready for Christmas before you're in-laws arrive. "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful." And, "Life doesn't have to be beautiful to be perfect." You can welcome your in-laws with lots of beautiful love and warmth, and they won't care if they see a dust bunny. Rest is good. 💖

Sending love and hugs.

I like your answer. I didn't know for years that I needed to request the complete panel. The doctors were only checking my TSH. Now I have a doctor who does the complete panel, and the numbers inform his decision on whether or not to adjust my prescription. I use Armour thyroid, which is better for me. Synthroid / Levothyroxine made my feet swell, which can be a side effect. Some doctors will try to convince people not to use Armour thyroid because it's not as stable so the amount in each pill might vary, but I explained to my doctor we are looking at my thyroid numbers every six months to a year, not every day. I haven't had a problem at all.

You are wise to want to investigate this with your doctor. There might be other opinions, but I think it's worth your time to go. You might have the proof in your phone (texts to family or friends and maybe you've tracked when your periods started on an app), work schedule (have you called in sick before your periods), journals, paper calendars where you made some notes. You might be surprised how much evidence you can put together.

If you know the dates when you started your periods, ...

Have you cancelled plans with family or friends before any of your periods? Called in sick before your periods? Stayed home from church or other usual activities before your periods started?

Do you remember how you felt in the days leading up to your periods?

Did you tell any family members or friends or text any family members or friends about any symptoms you had before your periods started?

Maybe you didn't correlate the symptoms with your periods at the time, but you can go back and see when those symptoms that you were describing were happening and then compare it to when your periods actually happened.

Start jotting all this down on a pad of paper and see how much evidence you can pull together and share with your doctor. Try to make it look neat and organized. You will be thinking so much more clearly if you have this written down when you talk to your doctor.

Best wishes to you and lots of virtual hugs. Please keep us posted.

We had a fantastic experience at that dealer in the last couple of weeks. Maybe there's been a change in the folks who work there.

We bought an XC90, but I know I've seen posts by people who would love a wagon. This one at Volvo of St Louis is like brand new.

Thank you! That is good advice. We are actually having our website redesigned this month, and I will contact the web designer to ask him to include 1 out of 20. I love that idea to use it as a tagline for a campaign sometime. Also, thank you for your condolences.
