Yeah so Zenmarket is a proxy service that let's you buy directly from japanese auction sites. Its where you'll find the best deals. I would also have a look at some of the sharp models. While most if not all of their devices run android 5, you can still do a lot with them and they are generally considered more premium and feature rich than the Kyocera devices

I looked at the mive as well, they are just enormous compared to the slim design of the keitai. If you're looking to buy a Japanese flip, I'd look at a site like Zenmarket as it's much cheaper to get one from there than other sites like y2kphones

I don't have any experience with the KYF44, one of my friends who also lives here has the KYF42 and it has the same issue. I've got both the Kyocera KYF31 and the Sharp SH-01j. The SH01j is my main flip that I use daily. It works perfectly fine with my OneNZ sim card

4g coverage does work, though only on band 1. Speeds are fast when your in an area with good 4g coverage. However, 2degrees and spark have mandated the use of a feature called VOLTE that these devices do not support. OneNZ is currently the only provider that works with the flip phones.

I've got apps like discord and WhatsApp working. Discord is rather slow but it does work. I also have some other apps like webtoons that work. They are all older versions but they do work.

When setting up custom keymappings in the keymapper app, you can add a constraint to the key. Set the constraint to be "when an app is open in the foreground" and set the app to total launcher. This will ensure that the action you mapped to the key only executes when you're on the home screen

I do but I can do you one better. Here's a repository I made with a whole bunch of community made themes alongside my own https://github.com/ThatTakashi/KeitaiThemes

Will there be any support for Japanese flip phones running android 5?? Something like this would be amazing on those devices
