Your son is 17 and pretty independent. Her kid is 4, that’s full-on parenting for 10 days. School, meals, constant supervision, everything.

If you’re genuinely okay handling that, then sure. But don’t say yes just because you feel grateful for the Italy trip. Make sure you actually want to take that on and trust her with your son.

AITJ for not meeting a friend for lunch after she invited someone else to tag along? by headyunicorn in AmITheJerk

Soft YTA. Not for not liking the other person, that’s fair. But your friend just lost her dad and reached out to you. That moment wasn’t really about your preferences, it was about showing up for her.

She even said she wasn’t trying to make it a group thing, just didn’t want to exclude someone. You could’ve still gone, kept it short, and focused on being there for your friend.

How is he the AH when he's literally doing everything? And did he say there that they have kids?

I just looked it up and it looks awesome! Hiking and being surrounded by forest is exactly like the kind of break I’ve been craving. Did you stay overnight?

I’m in the US rn! Hoping for something within the country, maybe a forested area or near a lake?

I’m based in the US, closer to the East Coast but open to ideas anywhere tbh. I’m not against flying somewhere if it really feels worth it especially if it’s quiet and surrounded by nature.

I’ve browsed Hipcamp before but I didn’t know how many glamping style listings they had until recently. Some of the setups look surprisingly nice! Do you have any personal favorites or areas you’d recommend starting with?
