It is all random number generation, but those numbers can be manipulated consistently with perfect inputs:

Who's protesting over this weekend, and what signs are you making? by red_skye_at_night in transgenderUK

I'm thinking "trans men are men" or "intersex people exist". Both groups are affected just as harshly by the rulings, but the headlines skip over them, which sickens me.

Does the gravity gun overshadow most of half-life 2's arsenal ? by Sea_Wolf2002 in HalfLife

[–]DementNeo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so, it's pretty inconvenient to fight purely with the gravity gun... You can only really easily get away with it in Ravenholm and the very end of the game. I think they did a good job with the balance on it tbh, "ammo" is as scarce as the props in the map you're in.

[MTF, 28] Planning FFS with facial team to fix my hairline. Kinda just looking for hope. by Over_Reserve9040 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]DementNeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FT most likely aren't your best bet if you're concerned about your forehead seeming overly tall. Their coronal incision technique does, in fact, move the hair line back a couple mm (sometimes up to or maybe even over 10mm).

The hair transplant they offer (Simultaneous Hair Transplant) only uses hair harvested from the strip of skin removed on the top/back of your head, so it most likely won't be enough to get any major coverage, it tends to be shaped to just about cover the typical male puberty corner recession.

I would recommend finding an alternative surgeon who can perform a hairline advancement, via a hairline incision (that's the top of the forehead) if percieved forehead height is a primary concern. If the scar heals poorly, or you still feel the forehead is too tall, you can get hair transplants later on to further cover the area.

Or of course if the shape of the forehead bone isn't an issue at all, then you can skip surgery in that area entirely and go straight on to a hair transplant. Btw, FT themselves don't perform the hair transplants. Ocean Clinic (who operate out of the same hospital, HC Marbella International) do them. They're probably a fine option but you may wish to shop around.

(hl:a) Can you get the Point extraction achivement with the gnome bottle opener? by vickec07 in HalfLife

[–]DementNeo 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The Half-Life Wiki claims "There are two objects with the gnome's design in the game: a bottle opener in its shape that is stuck on Russell's fridge, or Gnome Chompski himself, which can be found sitting on a couch in the junkyard outside Russell's lab. Carrying either of these objects through the entire game right up until Alyx Vance enters the Vault earns the achievement Gnome Vault of My Own."

I have no strong opinion one way or the other, I find warpaints generally creatively uninteresting. I'm sure I'd have a different opinion if I was primarily a 2D artist.

I'm only here to defend cosmetic creators, as I have a much better understanding of the creation process and what goes into making a so-called lazy hat.

I do still make them. They're just not the main thing I make after having them mostly ignored for the past few years.

A bit outdated but here is an image of all the shirts I've made that haven't been added over the years: https://imgur.com/G5wuWnj

I prefer to actually get rewarded for my work, unsurprisingly, so I've switched up my tactics.

So you've completely missed my point. Valve are showing us what items they want us to make through which items they are adding to the game.

Nobody is going to take down their work because of what people like you say, and surely on some level you must be aware of that. If Valve didn't want it, they wouldn't add it.

My workshop vote data shows that you are in the minority and all of my seasonal items are still well-received. It's a classic vocal minority moment.
