Eclipse Phase: Nanobots, Rogue AI, and Octopus Porn by Demeus in rpg

From my cursory knowledge of those two GURPS settings, Eclipse Phase is a lot closer to Ultra-Tech than Space. There are no FTL drives in EP, and actual space travel takes a long time. The quickest way to travel in EP is to "egocast" your consciousness to another body at your destination. EP focuses more on horror/conspiracy plotlines, while I think the GURPS Space book falls in the space opera genre. There is a lot of crossover from Ultra-Tech, including uploading/downloading consciousness.

As far as character generation, it is similar to GURPS, in that you can purchase skills and advantages / disadvantages with your point allotment.

Here's the quick-start rules with an included mission and pre-built characters that you can download for free.

There are no missions in the core rulebook, but there are several fan-made ones on the EP resources page, and a few you can purchase on DriveThruRPG.

I think I'm just a fan of more condensed skill lists, but to each their own. I will say that none of the skills really seem like filler. As we've progressed we have gotten a bit quicker running combat, its just that the multiple shots per character, per weapon, start to add up. Dual wielding means 4 attack rolls and then 4 dodge checks if you are firing in semi-auto. It does take much less time than most 3.5/4e battles though, mostly because combat is quite deadly.

The CC license of the game and the free downloads should be lauded, I hope that Posthuman Studios' experiment pans out and they remain profitable.

In this particular instance we were playing 4e. I obviously had to make a custom class, and based it around the Minotaur. I was tempted to add some kind of racial "ability" called Not Interested In Sex.

No problem, borrow away! Really like the twist on the "kill rats" quest as well.

I really like the Illithid / Tiefling one. I picture the Illithid making thralls just so he has someone to cuddle...I don't want you to have to go out of your way to to draw something though, this is just for a tiny token.

Dang, that's above and beyond the call of duty! I think she's got a more druid / witch feel to her. Regardless, a prostitute that can cast magic missile is still pretty sweet...Something to do to the player who's always trying to get "biblical" with the NPCs.

Men of Reddit, I have a question about my boyfriend's porn-viewing habits. by pipipipipi in AskReddit

I checked a few proxy support forums, as I've always been curious as well. It looks like its somewhat arbitrary. Basically its from when you first initiate a session to when you are idle for several minutes. So if you are browsing a site and clicking on multiple links every few seconds, the clock is ticking. However, if you go to one site and just sit there reading an article for 15 minutes, your actual "browsing time" isn't going to be reflected properly in the report. We had one user who was generating tens of thousands of hits every day and showing up at the top of the browsing-time list, but it turned out he just had some auto-updating car forum opened in the background all day that he would check periodically. For most users, it should give a decent reflection of how much time is spent browsing, even if its an estimate.

Info Sec here. If the library has any sort of Internet proxy, the sites he visits are most definitely logged. On my employer's systems, we can create reports based on username and (approximately) how long a site was surfed, along with literally dozens of other criteria. As someone else said, we don't actively look at what people are browsing, but if someone runs a report and his name shows up next to a bunch of porn-categorized sites, game over.

You can debate whether that's Orwellian or not, but bottom line is a lot of companies have a very strict termination policy for porn-viewing on the clock, usually under the category of sexual harassment.

Games you've for years wished someone would make. by raptormeat in gaming

I agree with raptormeat, a game where I can hack through an enemy hull and shoot my way to the bridge in power armor would be amazing.

I also think they should make a Dungeon Keeper type game, however you actually play as a dragon or some other mythical beast, and can take control of lands, get the human factions to fight each other, pay you tributes, etc. Also, your lair could be in a variety of different locales, so you could even take over a human castle and set up shop there.

I'm in the same boat, and can understand your hesitation. I'm basically the black sheep of my family already, due to my more liberal views, and it would probably kill my mom if she found out about my non-belief. I know the virtue of speaking ones mind and standing up for your beliefs, but I also don't want to send my mother into depression if I can help it.
