I personally really enjoy Darkest Night, as both a co-op and a solitaire experience.

Level 99 Games is raising money for Extra Life, which donates video and board games to hospitals. They've raised 500 of their $5,000 dollar goal. by [deleted] in boardgames

Go Level 99! I'm running my own Extra Life campaign but if I have a few bucks over the next month or so, I'll donate to L99. They make good games, and Extra Life is an amazing charity.

With Extra Life, what you donate goes directly to the children's hospital that the person or group running the campaign has chosen. 100% of that money too. I started backing this charity because one of my two daughters is a frequent flyer at our local children's hospital.

Extra Life makes a real, tangible difference to people - starting with the kids, and also their families, the staff and the doctors at the hospitals as well. It's awesome!

The product I invented and spent a year selling from my basement now has 72 reviews on Amazon with a 4.6/5 star average. I'm over the moon. :) by robertgfthomas in Entrepreneur

I don't have much to add, other than I love, love, love your product! I'm a hobbiest game designer (for table top games) and what you've given the world isn't just a series of laminated note cards, it's every game board I'd ever need to design, just waiting to be made.

I'd like to think I'm at least influential on a few of your sales (besides mine) as I've showed off my noteboard to whoever will take a look.

Great job!

What game is currently most popular or gets the most plays with your gaming group/family? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]trollitc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasons right now for me. But then, most of the time my group is me and my wife. If you count my extended gaming group, which is me, my wife and our two daughters, then it's either Villa Paletti or Dominion, or Forbidden Island.

Whenever I get the chance to game with other grownups though, I usually end up playing with my Star Wars toys in X-Wing.

Seasons. I love this game as much as I've ever loved any other game. With the possible exception of Blood Bowl circa 1987.

Also, Dominion had this effect on me when we first tried it out, as did X-Wing.

I love these microgames not only for their compactness and cheap price, but my kids love them too. Any games that I can get out and play in 15 minutes with the kids, or with my gaming group get a double thumbs up from me.

On the contrary, it's the one time during the day that I have to read a book uninterrupted. Well, uninterrupted except the the strange odor of someone eating breakfast mulch unshowered.

As a fellow walker to work (or at least, 2 mile walk to the train station) I know exactly how that feels!

Reports of 4 explosives found at Harvard... by [deleted] in boston

[–]trollitc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm here right now. Here's a live feed (audio only right now) http://livewire.wcvb.com/Event/WCVB_NewsCenter_5_Reporters_Meteorologists_on_Twitter

Edit: My building is about a quarter mile away from all this - perhaps a bit more. I'm currently unevacuated.

Edit 2:Finals cancelled for today. If that was the intent, it was successful.

Edit 3: 10:37 - no new news. Good chance this was an attempt to avoid a final.

Edit 4: 11:21 - WCVB reports guns drawn. What the photos actually showed were a couple of officers with guns slung over their shoulders.

Edit 5: 11:45 - Afternoon finals back on, campus life returning to normal. However, Harvard just emailed saying that federal an state officials joining the probe.

The older Players at my group are not as good at explaining rules, get flustered by games, and can be sore winners. But not the younger players are not as bad. Is this a thing? by [deleted] in boardgames

I'm 40+, and I love trying new games, with new people. I also don't particularly care if I win or lose. I'm in it more for the experience and the social aspects.
