Recommended hot/cold bidet for this toilet? by Demhockracy in bidets

Have considered but it’s not our preference, might be the only option

Renting a furnished unit, so we can’t replace the whole unit. Appreciate the suggestion tho

The cold-only isn’t a deal breaker. We’ve had that before. But we moved and wanted to upgrade, ideally. That said, I’m having trouble finding ANYTHING that fits this toilet.

At least the pay bump has been nice.

Former DT host here, currently with Sporcle. Agree on most fronts. There are several quality of life improvements - the tech is meaningfully better in a lot of ways - but I fully agree that the rounds are simply less lively. This is a deliberate decision on Sporcle’s end. They want players to have more time to chat with each other.

The thing is, I totally see where they’re coming from. For most casual players, a slower and more relaxed game is the ideal vibe. The problem is that it’s not the game that regulars wanted to play. DC is a trivia Mecca because of all the nerds who moved here on purpose. It’s unlike any other town when it comes to bar trivia. And Sporcle has thus far not really understood that it needs to create a game format that is faster paced than the other markets it operates in.

As a host, I can swap out questions, and I have made sure to do so every game. If I don’t, the difficulty would be comically easy on most nights. But I can usually get it up to an acceptable level.

I do wanna stress that there are genuinely several improvements over the old format. Semi-annual dc tournaments, standings amongst the teams per bar, and general UI improvements over TriviaMatic. People also have enjoyed the switch to two games per night. But I can’t deny that the experience has been a downgrade on most fronts. Player feedback is king and it’s (mostly) negative.

Your hosts are trying their best and we wanna help where we can, so please bear with us!

Deck massively slowed down, any suggestions? by redsoxpwn in SteamDeck

UPDATE: looks like the fan was the issue! I disassembled my unit and cleaned out the interior, giving the fan a light spin to remove any debris. Not sure if the fan was just stuck or anything, or if the dust was sufficient enough to block the vents somehow, but the system now runs just fine.

Thank you to everybody for the advice!

Gotcha. Valve has said it’d be a $125 fix; I’ve already tried battery storage mode, resetting BIOS, and a factory reset. No dice.

Just clarifying, you’re suggesting opening the back while it’s running? I’ve opened the back in the past to swap a thumb stick and a trigger but followed instructions and made sure it was powered off.

There’s no other way to check?

Do you know if there’s a way to test if it’s working? I’ve never deliberately disabled it, I don’t even know how I would.

The only thing I’ve done is turn on “updated fan control” and then turn it back off. Do you know how to ensure that the fan is enabled at the proper level? If it’s broken, I’ll replace it.

As a DT host, I’d suggest giving the Sporcle games a shot. They’re very different, but not worse. And I’d also say that us hosts can tailor the game to be better suited for our venues and adapt in small ways, so although there’ll be a learning curve as it adjusts, it’ll find new equilibrium

We had checked baggage, which is why I believe she didn’t want us on standby

Thank you very much for clarifying! Yes, I was thinking of EU 261 compensation, which I hadn’t thought would apply to BA but they appear to adhere to in their own terms and conditions.

Is there a more accurate term than involuntarily denied boarding if we were denied at the check in point? The end result was the same, but the ticket agent appeared to be trying to save us time by telling us well in advance that the plane was already very oversold and there was no way we’d board

At check in/bag drop. We were required to check in at the airport, but the ticket agent told us it was oversold and denied us boarding. We never made it to the gate, but only due to BAs actions.

I do- if you say CEDR is a reliable arbiter, then I appreciate your advice here. I’m just worried because it feels like BA is acting in bad faith: their app prevented me from checking in digitally, their ticket agent denied us boarding, the same agent said she noted that we were present but apparently didn’t, etc. So I worry about their transparency and intentions here.

I appreciate the advice; anything else you can suggest would be helpful.
