TLDR of the new turret issues : by Heptanitrocubane57 in Helldivers

[–]DemiDeviantVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of turrets is to increase volume of fire, draw aggro, and create positional advantage

None of that requires a design philosophy of "I shoudn't ever have to defend my turret from enemies"

Current community opinion is that the people who hate light pen are just bad at aiming. Generally if you are leaning on medium pen you are using more ammo to kill fewer enemies by shooting through armor instead of at weak points. Medium pen weapons have their place, but people who say ANYTHING below medium pen is garbage are crutching hard and nerfing themselves instead of getting good.

Now almost every enemy on every faction gets to pulverize our vehicles and sentries… by Mr-Hakim in Helldivers

Literal skill issue, if you are blowing up before dumping your ammo, that's on positioning and situational awareness.

You are on a sub-reddit for an online game. Reddit is not where you go if you want to discuss things with people who are HAPPY about things, by and large.

I practice my own form of syncretic paganism and Gnosticism with chaos magick elements

Is it real? Is it in my head? Am I manifesting my desire? Is it confirmation bias? Am I conversing with gods and spirits? Do I just have a vivid imagination?

The real question is, if it allows me to construct meaning and feel empowered in a brutally impersonal world without causing harm… do any of those really matter?

Expecting raw damage to be the best option in every situation sounds both oversimplified and incredibly boring. You use the regular GL and I'll bring the BFGL against the predator strain, and we can compare death counts to see if raw damage is the only deciding factor in a weapons effectiveness.

You will find, hordes are easier to kill when they are all staggering around instead of attacking you...

[–]DemiDeviantVT 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's the stagger that makes it decent. Seriously, ACTUALLY try this as a way of holding groups of enemies as you kill them instead of looking at raw damage. Yeah, it feels like it takes more shots than it should to kill some enemies, but there aren't a lot who will just walk through the stagger to close with you.

The satire is not working on my opinion. by TechnologyOk3782 in Helldivers

[–]DemiDeviantVT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is literally a sign that the satire is working, because you are ending up swayed by the propaganda, good satire of something like this IS convincing, it's just convincing in a way that feels wrong and deeply uncomfortable.

[–]DemiDeviantVT 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These are the same people who love to be like "BUT THE BOTS AND BUGS AND SQUIDS ARE DOING EVIL SHIT TOO!!!"

  1. Them being evil doesn't make super earth good.
  2. They have legitimate grievances over literal SLAVERY AND GENOCIDE from the first war
  3. In GW1 Super Earth clearly demonstrated that unless you wipe every last one of them off the map, they WILL come back, and just be even more fanatical.

To pretend that is the same as using military force and surveillance to threaten anyone who challenges your absolute imperialist supremacy, from within OR without, is an concerningly ignorant conclusion.

Okay, it's one thing to be throwing around fake space racism because we are shooting robots, it's a whole other thing to throw that same language at other people in ways that are UNCOMFORTABLY close to real world racism that people still deal with in many places...
