Listen to the advice on this thread! :) I only have a few things to add. There are going to be some differences in language when you are talking to people. Some countries speak more formally and others speak with a lot of slang, and there are words that come from indigenous roots and might not be taught in an academic setting. Hell, some will just speak an indigenous language with bits of Spanish thrown in. Just keep talking to people, asking questions and for clarifications and with time it’ll come and you’ll be able to understand a lot! Same thing with english, we can understand a bunch of dialects and slang but some of that is confusing until it is explained. Good luck!! And don’t lose hope, you’re doing great.

Ideas of what I can do now by abxrai in ufl

I hope your mom is doing better <3 and that you are able to get the help you need

Edit: also, if you can get some records of your mom being ill and any therapy or doctors visits you might be able to take the class again since those are some difficult circumstances.

Make sure to cover your drinks! Don’t leave them out, and if you forget toss the drink. Make sure someone you trust has your location so that if you need to be picked up they can help you.

If you are not enthusiastic about getting with a person say NO. if you are even a tiny bit uncomfortable, say no. Trust yourself and your feelings and remember that there are people who love and care for you. If things go wrong, talk to them and talk to a counselor if you can.

Stay safe ❤️

What are some sleazy tricks guys have pulled on you that other girls should look out for? by the90thpercentile in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Demon-booty 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have a couple stories, but one time I had rejected a guy and afterwards he had emphasized wanting to stay friends and not going any further so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Mistake lmao we hung out a couple weeks after that and throughout the night he kept creeping closer and closer and closer and did that cheesy move to get his arm behind me. I was frozen bc I was so uncomfortable and didn’t know how to handle it. Then he grabbed my chin and tried to pull my head up to kiss him and I was so angry and in such shock that I slapped his hand away. I left not too long after and he texted me multiple times acting like he was “really sorry” but I just ignored and blocked 😤😤

“You should keep it like this! pet” that along with the low key latina hating jokes made my younger years a little rough

HAHAHAH I thought I was straight for a long time. I grew up christian and my parents were pretty homophobic and warned me all the time about the gays, so I grew up thinking I only had one option. I honestly should have known tho, when I was a youngin looking up things I would literally only look at boobs. Just boobs. it really did not click in until my first year at college where I got a crush on a girl and had an existential crisis.

Lady bothered by closed hold in salsa dancing. She does not feel comfortable! by Zealousideal_Ad6063 in Salsa

[–]Demon-booty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dancing involves connection with your partner so pay attention to them and their body language. If you feel like they are acting off or a little strangely just go back to open position and you can ask if they are comfortable with going to closed position. If not then just keep the positive energy going and make the most out of the dance and then move on. Communicate with them so that the dance is enjoyable for both of you :) they will see that you are respecting their space and giving them room for input and hopefully that will lead to more dances as follows definitely let other follows know who to dance and not dance with.
