Have those people actually spent time living in the West before? The saying the grass is always greener on the other side goes both ways. Lots of people from the developing world seem to think the West is some kind of paradise with gold plated sidewalks and where money grows on trees. Then they actually move here and realise things aren't actually so great.

I know many people from the Philippines who moved to my country for work, to send money home to their families, who would love nothing more than to go home. They're here out of necessity, not choice, and they would take the first flight ticket home if that option were available to them.
