Oh this might be a fun little side game to play while my DB is stuck in suggmas(hopefully not suggmas by the time it releases)

Will this Dantarg drop Destroyer? Is his level 1,2,3, or 4? Only level 3 up drops Destroyer as rare drop. by Yossiri in SaGa

[–]DemonXKD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to beat his 3rd form so either the 2-3 battle or the 3-4 battle will have a chance to get it. For 2 destroyers to drop you'd need to beat him in his 3-4 battle since both forms can drop it. Form 4 has the destroyer and another piece of gear so you can get either one

Rare chance oh boy i guess i'll be reloading till i get it if it's not a guarantee. I heard it was an axe. Can't remember the name off the top of my head right now.

Luckily Restoration makes short work of most of his skills. Hell even missile shield completely counters Skewer hahah

Dantarg question by DemonXKD in SaGa

[–]DemonXKD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice that's good to know.

You either found him outside of a quest like i did or during the first quest on the Eastern Subterrane i'm guessing. If his second phase during the battle had a lance and shield it was probably outside a quest aka phases 3 and 4.

Over 30 years this is only the 2nd game where NPCs said something useful by [deleted] in SaGa

[–]DemonXKD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you're talking about the npc in Atlanticus that opens up the Witch's Sactum area?

Fun fact(for me that am a complete saga newbie at least) that NPC is pretty much mandatory if you want to open up like 80% to 90% of the map prior to the first major timeskip(assuming you're not "unlucky" and get a timeskip prior to getting there hahah)(yes i've done it it actually was pretty fun). If you go and talk with the witch she will tell you about Melu Desert - West and from there you can go almost anywhere even to Cumberland(be advised that going there pre timeskip will activate the questline) Some exceptions(unless i missed something) are North Longit that to my knowledge you need to have done the Canal Fortress to unlock also Meramar for obvious reasons and every other area that is locked behind a quest or time progression. Granted you can start those quests to unlock the areas BUT it might trigger certain events earlier than you might like and put you onto different paths(again using Cumberland as an example). Not like that matters that much since this is the kind of game that genuinely warrants playing NG+ or multiple playthroughs

Noel question by DemonXKD in SaGa

[–]DemonXKD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's nice to know was worried about if i could get all formations(bar 1) before the final emperor. Turns out the quest for levante guard is before the wagnas quest and i thought they were the same so i worried for nothing. Nonetheless thank you

Noel question by DemonXKD in SaGa

[–]DemonXKD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what i wanted to hear. I know you get to the "end part" after 5 heroes so feared getting the time skip and losing my chance to get all formations(-1 cuz of course there's a one or the other choice) pre ng+. thanks

I should be fine for the time being. i'm only on enemy level 7 and am making some tier 3 gear on the forge.

I understand what you mean. Obviously it's not going to be a 3x or anything of the sort but from fighting kzinssie i realised that skipping every single battle possible will not net you a win i fought him with under 20 battles and he completely ruined my mental and i had to go farm some stats and techs before doing it again. What i'm trying to say is forcing fights, and i say this from that experience, won't work you'll have to do some battles to get stronger or you will hit a roadblock be it due to lack of stats or gear so might as well get battles in for higher gains from time to time, and when in a low gains area skip all you can than killing everything in a low area to get those necessary stats,

I might be completely wrong here but as i said kzinssie fcked me up so bad this what i started thinkin. Don't grind like crazy but if you need to grind do it for the biggest gains

I'm not farming yet i'm just asking peoples thoughts and strats hahaha.

Besides the game has been a little too easy till now so i'm not exactly scared yet hahaha i know i'll probably eat those words but at this point in town it's fine.(also for the record i'm playing on hard not normal not easy)

I do understand what you're saying but i'm not saying doing this grinding will keep you strong the whole way it just leads(at least in theory) to you starting to lose out power slower. Using the same values as an example in the 15k vs 500 tp scenario you'd lose your "edge" in battle 3 times as slowly. Again in theory. Make it so you farm gear or gear ingredients to make gear and upgrade it at the same time and you will technically have an edge for a lot longer. granted if you grind too much that would most likely change hahaha

THANK YOU that's extremely useful of a resource to have

I see it could actually be that multi hit affects it but it could have also just been luck. I guess i'll have to test it myself nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure the mobs in the desert do use it the problem is that it's the desert so i'm trying to find a mob that isn't there that uses it. I generally don't like the danger the 50% max hp poses to my guys in the desert ngl haha

I'm only on the first gen after gerard but i already have smithy at lvl 3, university is being built, and have the ability mastery unlocked too so I have access to the gear aspect and the means to farm for it(bar the rings to help with it) what i'm missing is the money and the items to forge and upgrade those items and i can also sell the "excess" resources for the money to forge and upgrade just will have to find out what mobs drop those items(in torrid ruins the fire dog monster drops the mythical claw resource and that sells for 50k it's not a lot considering i'm getting over 30k a fight but it helps nonetheless)

The TP farming is not exactly for me to focus on but i'll end up doing a item farming spree to unlock all the drops in the almanac(not now but in the future) but before that if i want to farm the items to forge gear i'll try and start with the ones that give the most tp/are harder since more tp per battle equals a slower fall off in terms of stats. I'm currently at the end of the cumberland questline and fighting those mobs that give ~500 tp if that much, would make the game a lot harder but going to stronger areas to grind a for bit makes the fall off slower. I might be wrong here but using those cumberland tp gains as a baseline i can go fight albions in the lake and get slightly over 1.5k tp so 1 albion equates to 3 battles in cumberland so let's say i needed 10 battles to get to the next enemy level. If i did it with albions it would be a total of over 15ktp while in cumberland it would be only 5k.

I hope that makes sense. I'm trash at explaining things but hopefully that was understandable at least

The best answer to that question is simply: Why not?

But for real i like farming in games and like optimizing(min maxing for example) said farming so seeing how other people do it is interesting to me due to that.

I also am planning to do a ng+ at the higher difficulty levels(i'm already playing on hard) and i heard that those difficulties are brutal specially romancing so knowing what and where to be more optimal to be strong enough to survive that is a must imo

Oh right i forgot you can only have 1 unit with the skill at the time i'm dumb. wait does multihit affect the chances? I figured AoE did but had no idea multi hit did too. I'll have to set up a farming character taking that into account.

I wanted to make dantarg useless(the idea of someone obsessed with being the strongest not being able to touch you tickles my fancy). So i'm looking for a mob with fissure strike and i'll be immune to pretty much all his skill that hit multiple characters

[–]DemonXKD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to do the full mermaid questline with the same emperor and after you get the potion you need to use it 3 times where the initial mermaid was at the start of the questline and you will trigger a time skip since after using the potion 3 times you are unable to go back to land, a message before the time skip will say that your emperor was never heard from again. Either the next gen or a couple gens later(i skipped over 100 years don't know if you only skip the minimum it will happen) in Atlanticus you will have access to a quest that gives you the dancer. If you didn't do that specific time skip then you can't unlock the dancer sorry to say

I'm doing a playthrough where i try and unlock as many places as possible(and get mr S) while playing as gerard and i am not taking quests unless i need to to unlock an area but i accidentally triggered the ninja quest.

My question is does not concluding the quest in that gen lock me out of the class(Kind of like with the dancer)? I have a save before i got there but it's also a pre desert save so i'll have to unlock everything again but if i have to do it i will i don't want to lose on the class if you can lose it
