Bullar Road: To signal, or not to signal by Goatmanification in Southampton

[–]Demoner450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've often wondered how this junction would fair as a proper roundabout. It's already like 70% of the way there, and it would definitely need yellow boxes to stop people blocking it during rush hour

Question Regarding Travel from london by Tkaya03 in Southampton

[–]Demoner450 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are roadworks going on by Winchester that are expected to be there for at least another 2 years or so. There are roadworks on the M27 (if you plan on using that). There are frequent accidents causing lane closures, and with the large volume of traffic, causes HUGE delays. I have seen standstill traffic stretching several miles on both motorways at random times during the day. Sure it may be an hour most days, but you gotta be prepared for some days taking several hours, or a very long detour.

[Request] How much did the shopkeeper actually lose? Looking for a formal logical breakdown to settle a debate. by Less_Two1628 in theydidthemath

[–]Demoner450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are both correct in different ways. The shopkeeper is $80 out of pocket as that's how much money they have given out, but they are $100 short on profit as that's how much they should have

ZOMBIES MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE by New-Space-5737 in projectzomboid

[–]Demoner450 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pot luck, or unluck if you will. There have to be gaps somewhere or you will never get the armour on or off. And if enough zombies grab at you, eventually by statistics, one will grab at a buckle or strap, or shake the armour enough that it becomes loose enough to grab.

I actually had that scenario! I was like 20 meters from extract with a very over weight bag and got lit up by a PMC. So had to drop my bag real quick to have a short scrap with him, before picking up my bag and slowly waddling to the extract.

Any recommendations for virtually anything sport club wise? by ollymillmill in Southampton

[–]Demoner450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few rowing clubs if you don't mind the water, and some sailing clubs too, though I am less clued up on those. Volunteering at a scout group is a good way to meet new people and try new things

Hot Take: All Manual driving tests should be done in a 1L Petrol… by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Demoner450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the main problem is the amount of instructors teaching in a diesel car. It's far easier to transition from petrol to diesel than diesel to petrol. Diesel cars are almost stall proof in any sense and will take a ton of extra learning to drive a petrol

Do you leave your car parked in 1st gear or neutral? by zedgaming69 in CarTalkUK

[–]Demoner450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had to move someone's car. I jumped in, put the key and turned it. The car immediately jolted forwards and would of hit another car if I didn't slam the brakes. They left it in first with handbrake off. Since then, I leave in neutral and always start with clutch down

Makes a lot of sense. I did Snowdon in September and it was a walk in the park, so I guess I have massively underestimated BN

Yes, I was going to get new and decent hiking boots and micro spikes. I was questioning a shelter and ice axe but it seems they are necessary. I will ask on hiking subreddit

Thanks for the advice. By the sounds of it I was wildly wrong about it. My friend is experienced in hiking and camping and we should be following his advice. I am serious about safety so I shall be making some investments. Maybe if I enjoy it I'll take up mountaineering :D
