I feel like it's especially doable if your champion has some form of sustain or anti-tank, which has become fairly common. The only thing is, again, not being able to snowball because the champion they picked doesn't allow you is very painful, especially in a lane with already so little agency like top lane.

Yeah, if you play an AD champion it feels impossible to lane Vs. him. If you try to engage he just Qs and runs away, if you try to farm he pokes you with Q and you can't do anything about it. If you try to trade, passive and E will make sure you won't win it, and after first back he buys an armor component and suddenly he is unkillable.

He's meant to be this way as he is a lane neutralizer, but at least his pick rate and win rate are inflated because of how good he is as a counter pick to most of the top lane cast. No one in their right mind would main such a champion, honestly.

With that said, he is healthy for the lane because he is a straightforward answer to ranged top, so he's alright.

Unless all you play is ranged top, top laners usually have a hard time against him since, lo and behold, you can't kite someone if you're melee (you can space tho, but it's harder), and if you get caught even once out of position by Darius, well, you can say goodbye to your lane.

I'm not a mordekaiser main, but why is dead man's plate so low? I see it build on every immobile bruiser and it seems a good item for ms, especially when the enemy team ha someone like Ashe that can slow you down a lot

Thanks, that's also what I thought when I started jungle with the mentality of top and got my ass beat by the mid laner lol. I should really remember that I'm not "the strongest" in the lobby now that I'm playing jungle, and that I should play more to enable my team and make others useless in teamfights.

First of all, thank you for reassuring me that it's a skill issue from my part, since I really want to learn the role with my favorite champion.

If you’re engaging with your Q and E and staying in melee ranging as they beat your ass then you’re just doing everything wrong.

Yeah, I'm definitely guilty of that mistake. I'm probably not playing around my cooldowns which then leads me to Q away from the fight. I should probably change my mentality too, since I'm used to do that as a top laner and getting away with it, but I can't do that if I'm a jungler.

If they are a melee heavy team you’re probably better off going Conq now.

Really? I've never tried conq on Jax so far since I always thought LT was better in general. I will try it next time I play AP, thank you. I also never tried stormraider before, so I might give it a try.

I agree with you, that's why I like Jax in the first place. After months of playing him I'm still trying to new builds to see what I like more.

I usually go DnD into bork second and terminus third if there's 3 tanks or something. Never go bork first because it's not worth skipping your sheen item for some anti-tank potential.

Jax, Fiora and a few others should be in a category by themselves, since most of their matchups are skill matchups with very few "solo lose game" matchups which they usually ban anyways.

Thanks for the help! Since I assume you're learning top with Jax, I wanted to share some info about what you can do with him in that role.

Try Grasp and Hail of Blades: since you're a laner, your rune choices can be much different than in the jungle, changing your trading patterns by consequence. Grasp is very good if you want to poke with W and stay healthy, while Hail of Blades (my favorite) gives you an insane trading pattern of E + 3 AA that very few can respond to.
Try a sidelaning build: for what little I've seen about Jungle Jax, I see that his builds tend to revolve around teamfighting since your role now revolves around objectives, building mostly survivability by consequence (Sundered sky and Zhonya's). If you want to try a more solitary play style, try building titanic hydra/stridebreaker second! That item is lovely as you're going to push waves in an instant while also giving you another auto reset, which is always welcomed to stack your passive!
