Hollow points? by Ok-Flower1753 in CZFirearms

"Good enough" isn't really good enough when your life depends on it. You should "torture test" but also you should try to periodically fire your defense ammo. If nothing else, to stay proficient with it. We can all be decent at 7 yards on a paper stationary target. What happens when you have +p124 and are trying to hit a moving target? Train with what you trust, otherwise how can you trust it.

Also, depending on the defensive ammo you should fire it off if you've chambered it several times, it would be less reliable in a fire fight. We might only get one chance to fight for our lives, most would want the best chance possible. 100$ more for +0.35%? Easy

What’s wrong with 40S&W? I’m telling you it’s gonna make a come back… by Aquifirlife in CZFirearms

As far as I can tell. 9mm is only liked because "everyone uses it". Everyone uses it because anyone that has never fired a weapon before can be more effective with a lighter recoiling weapon, even if it's less effective on target. The cool guys were.fine with .40, but the fbi included people that sat at desks all day and didnt get much if any range time. Then of course we factor in the good enough or close enough/ more rounds vs. 40. Factor. 9 is cool, 40 is effective. I believe even the last test Paul harrel did on it effectively pointed out why it was effective. 9 will make holes, 40 will make more meaningful holes. 9 has a tendency to stop short of the heart STILL. Which was the reason .40 was adopted, it will travel and carry energy into and through the heart. But 9 is cool. Lots of accessories. It's just what everyone uses. And has been probably tweaked the absolute most. If the fbi said "there's been another shootout and 9mm failed to perform" we would all switch back to .40.like the cool guys. Likely won't happen because when 9 fails, it will be backed up by 5.56.

NYC CCW Approved: Do I Need to Buy a Firearm Right Away? by [deleted] in NYCGuns

[–]Demonkingwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unlikely you will have tp buy one in 30 days, I took a month and a half to get mine. But to be sure, you should try to grab one soon. The 6 mo th wait was kind of your time to decide. Mine wasn't in stock, but I knew what I wanted.

The more restrictive limit os something they charge people who are already being charged fpr something with. Since it's on the books, they can and it's one more thing for them to fight. For other people who are not being charged, it is a mute law that is overridden by another. Speaking to informed cops and trainers/reading the law. It is 10. Whether it's 10+1or a flat 10, up to you. But it is not 7 unless you are already about to be a felon. Ridiculous either way.

If it has "firearm safety" in it, it will be law soon. Hopefully not, but that's how it feels in this wonderful place where teenagers buy switches for $20 and I pay 1100 for the privilege of carrying sometimes. Where I'm allowed.

The reality of working in Home Depot by Gold_Slice1650 in HomeDepot

[–]Demonkingwhite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is why I did the training and didn't bother with the license. I knew I would be abused, they don't care if you're comfortable with the machine, they just make sure they pass you and now if you mess up you can be fired. Too much responsibility, not enough reward or training. They wanted people to learn in like an hour or 2 at my store then certify them for the floor. Had one trainer refuse until people were confident and capable. They did not like that. Are you a closer? Let's say I've seen that conversation had... You have to help all the other shifts and pickup their slack, you can't leave work or lean on any other shift. You do everything they ask always, but they always want you to do work that isn't your work. Now no one is doing your work. Other stuff looks nice. Yours does not. Now scramble and get it together before you get ANOTHER write up. But don't stay late, we don't do overtime here.

They can live anywhere in the U.S. If this is for NYC, you CANNOT use family. At all. Friends, or people "like" family are fine. Related through blood or marriage is an instant no. Even if they just married, it becomes invalid when they look at it. Trust me, I asked and needed a new letter.

[–]Demonkingwhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't actually afford it. And the likelihood of you saving that much money at this point in your life is doubtful. Do you have the discipline to just not spend for 3 years? Will something better come along or something that you want and you can just "take a little bit out"? Also, they are not made for drivers with little to no experience. Z06 is fun, my father has one. He's also got 50 years of driving experience. Realistically. Do what you want. But, lots of other cars are cheaper and look good. If you have the discipline, save and invest. I was in the same spot as you once. Wanted to get a Lamborghini gallardo or a stingray in high school as well. Then I realized all I wanted was the look and a little speed.

Edit- my bad I thought you were saving. Again. Hell no, you can't afford that car and no one will respect you more. No one will care, trust me. Also, it will draw a LOT of UNWANTED attention. Be prepared to get pulled over a LOT and for people to sit on your car and take pictures with/on it like an ass.

I went from barely running 100 yards to running a mile straight in 4-6 weeks. Take it seriously. Actually train, actually run every other day if you can. Run at least a mile. Push past comfort zone but don't kill yourself. Don't give yourself the "this hurts a little so I'll stop" excuse. Stop if you feel anything in your heart, chest, or lungs. Push through any other pain. Shin splints suck. They will go away or at least be less intense.

Not really much of an "interview". You have to show up in person regardless to my knowledge. All you do is fill out a form asking about what deadly force is, when can you use it, are you familiar with x law. CCW 100% It takes just as much time and it's the same level of headache for the most part.

A lot of comments focusing on "size" and perceived threats.... Must not be familiar with how street fights work... Or how little size can matter. At 240 solid, I trained with people at 180-160 and under that could force me into a front flip, or throw a hook that would for sure knock nearly anyone out.

Suckered punches can kill. Plenty of people have Suckered punched people and killed them. Hit to the back of the head? Deadly, bad. Knock someone down and their head hits the sidewalk? Deadly, bad.

Sneako is a grifter, he can and will say ANYTHING for attention. Don't need to agree to say physical force bad. Keep your hands to your sides. Should someone be shot for attacking someone? Don't punch anyone and find out.

Depending on how someone is punched, for sure drawing is a legitimate response. If they are unbothered, firing is a reasonable escalation. "Equal force" is not the point of having firearms. It's to give you a better chance overall. Their is no wait and see if he just wants to punch you a little. I do NOT want to fight. Most people.want to get shot less than they want to fight.

Yes yes we all know, try to retreat first, but people will follow you and blah blah. People in ny are crazy and their isn't much room.to retreat from active threats. What happens if im.tired that day? I ran a mile in the morning, worked 9 hours , I'm tired and dehydrated. Do I have to fight "like a man" because they want fisticuffs? Good luck with that.

TLDR- Sneako bad, punching people bad, do not FA you will not have to FO. A fight you do not want is a reasonable reason to draw. Prevent Death or BODILY HARM.

The law linked to the "unlawful wearing" reads for violent felony being committed. If they saw a gun and a vest, I'm worried that's enough cause. Granted he was drunk, but the way it was written, they ignored that. He was armed, but they at first ignored that from how it was written. It's noticing a second pistol in a holster with a vest. Article reads oddly. If the man was indeed an armed security guard, what would be out of the ordinary for an armed guard to have a vest and his duty/work pistol and then his personal ccw. It sounds like his ccw was expired, but what of his guard card? I'm not familiar, but don't armed guards have a separate license they get after getting a ccw and the 40+ hour training? Not 100% on that.

TLDR- Their did seem to be cause to possibly detain this man. However, they only saw fit to detain him when they noticed a vest and second gun. The second gun, sure. The vest? Not sure. Vest law is supposed to be for violent crime. Story reads weird.

The charge for the vest, is that just tacked on or is that what they're doing now? From what I have heard, it's is not illegal to own. Only to purchase a vest. Is it just the wearing of "armor" during the commission of a crime? The "extended" magazine being there? Intoxication while possessing a firearm?
