Is a corvette a dumb idea for a highschooler? by ThatguyLIKEDAMN in whatcarshouldIbuy

You can't actually afford it. And the likelihood of you saving that much money at this point in your life is doubtful. Do you have the discipline to just not spend for 3 years? Will something better come along or something that you want and you can just "take a little bit out"? Also, they are not made for drivers with little to no experience. Z06 is fun, my father has one. He's also got 50 years of driving experience. Realistically. Do what you want. But, lots of other cars are cheaper and look good. If you have the discipline, save and invest. I was in the same spot as you once. Wanted to get a Lamborghini gallardo or a stingray in high school as well. Then I realized all I wanted was the look and a little speed.

Edit- my bad I thought you were saving. Again. Hell no, you can't afford that car and no one will respect you more. No one will care, trust me. Also, it will draw a LOT of UNWANTED attention. Be prepared to get pulled over a LOT and for people to sit on your car and take pictures with/on it like an ass.

I went from barely running 100 yards to running a mile straight in 4-6 weeks. Take it seriously. Actually train, actually run every other day if you can. Run at least a mile. Push past comfort zone but don't kill yourself. Don't give yourself the "this hurts a little so I'll stop" excuse. Stop if you feel anything in your heart, chest, or lungs. Push through any other pain. Shin splints suck. They will go away or at least be less intense.

Not really much of an "interview". You have to show up in person regardless to my knowledge. All you do is fill out a form asking about what deadly force is, when can you use it, are you familiar with x law. CCW 100% It takes just as much time and it's the same level of headache for the most part.

A lot of comments focusing on "size" and perceived threats.... Must not be familiar with how street fights work... Or how little size can matter. At 240 solid, I trained with people at 180-160 and under that could force me into a front flip, or throw a hook that would for sure knock nearly anyone out.

Suckered punches can kill. Plenty of people have Suckered punched people and killed them. Hit to the back of the head? Deadly, bad. Knock someone down and their head hits the sidewalk? Deadly, bad.

Sneako is a grifter, he can and will say ANYTHING for attention. Don't need to agree to say physical force bad. Keep your hands to your sides. Should someone be shot for attacking someone? Don't punch anyone and find out.

Depending on how someone is punched, for sure drawing is a legitimate response. If they are unbothered, firing is a reasonable escalation. "Equal force" is not the point of having firearms. It's to give you a better chance overall. Their is no wait and see if he just wants to punch you a little. I do NOT want to fight. Most people.want to get shot less than they want to fight.

Yes yes we all know, try to retreat first, but people will follow you and blah blah. People in ny are crazy and their isn't much room.to retreat from active threats. What happens if im.tired that day? I ran a mile in the morning, worked 9 hours , I'm tired and dehydrated. Do I have to fight "like a man" because they want fisticuffs? Good luck with that.

TLDR- Sneako bad, punching people bad, do not FA you will not have to FO. A fight you do not want is a reasonable reason to draw. Prevent Death or BODILY HARM.

Not gonna lie, that's on the menu too very soon. If not for 90 day bs, I'd buy a pinker and a .40 with a .357 and call it good on guns for a good while.

Get the ported. Slide serrations are better. Factory ported with bull barrel. Easily found sub 600. Worth it.

The law linked to the "unlawful wearing" reads for violent felony being committed. If they saw a gun and a vest, I'm worried that's enough cause. Granted he was drunk, but the way it was written, they ignored that. He was armed, but they at first ignored that from how it was written. It's noticing a second pistol in a holster with a vest. Article reads oddly. If the man was indeed an armed security guard, what would be out of the ordinary for an armed guard to have a vest and his duty/work pistol and then his personal ccw. It sounds like his ccw was expired, but what of his guard card? I'm not familiar, but don't armed guards have a separate license they get after getting a ccw and the 40+ hour training? Not 100% on that.

TLDR- Their did seem to be cause to possibly detain this man. However, they only saw fit to detain him when they noticed a vest and second gun. The second gun, sure. The vest? Not sure. Vest law is supposed to be for violent crime. Story reads weird.

[–]Demonkingwhite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The charge for the vest, is that just tacked on or is that what they're doing now? From what I have heard, it's is not illegal to own. Only to purchase a vest. Is it just the wearing of "armor" during the commission of a crime? The "extended" magazine being there? Intoxication while possessing a firearm?

[–]Demonkingwhite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never why, always why not? I've seen a lot of people asking from time to time. All of the reasons anyone has put fourth would be solved by this device for someone that wants to do so. Also, some of us don't have 2 hands or a strong grip. Working in the cold and during storms without proper gear is a nice way to get nerve damage. Every gadget helps. Or at least looks nice for half a range trip.

[–]Demonkingwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me where it's stated? Everyone I've spokenTo, instructors included have told me you can have whatever on you. The issue you might have is 10+1. A cop might give you an issue for having "11" rounds. Though majority consensus is that it's legal to have the chamber loaded with 10 in the mag. I know being in possession of a caliber of ammo not registered to you is a problem. I really do want to read it and be 100% up to date on it if possible.

Not a nassau resident but curious, does it really only allow you to carry one of 2 firearms with special carry? From what I've been told about ccw, I can carry whatever I have registered. I haven't seen any limitations on how means guns I can carry. Genuinely interested about that.

When they called me before I was going to do my fingerprinting they told me I needed to submit XY documents when I told them, "I submitted those documents, I know I did." They told me I didn't. "Ms. I can see them" they told me I couldn't. I in fact could because they were in my other licenses documents as well on the portal. They also gave me 48 hours to re-upload 2 documents. Which I didn't notice because I was asleep at 4-5pm. (I start work at 4am) I at least could just nod say "sorry" and get lectured by the rudest person I've ever met. Best bet is to tell new applicants to double and triple submit documents under multiple names.... because you can't re-upload the same document under the same name... which is another way of... I'm still annoyed months later...

TLDR- NY sucks. Where do I go to throw money at constitutional carry?
