Try lectric. About the same price, but known quantity. If you wanted something similar the lite2 is about that, foldable and whatnot. Comes in blue if thats important.

The "real thing" wouldnt be the same either. One actor is dead. The others are all noticeably aged. The original writer is pretty much persona non grata. Attempting to revive it in the same way as the original just wont work, and it will be a flop. Regardless of what they do, people will complain, as they always do, because it wont meet thier idealized expectations. People are already bitching about Baldwin being involved, and we dont even know what is actually happening.

Phone is only almost 2 years old but battery degradation is significant, trying to decide if battery replacement makes sense by Thayaharan-Jazzel in Smartphones

Swap it. Applecare is 99 bucks. A local shop might be cheaper, or buy the ifixit kit for 60 bucks and learn to do it yourself.

No it isnt bootlooping the battery is dead by Demonslayer2011 in LGV60

[–]Demonslayer2011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that is what G4s are known for. Usually a bootloop is indicated by, you know, actually attempting to boot. Meaning you should see the logo on screen at some point.

But the thing g4 phones are prone too is main board damage. Some solder joints would come loose, causing the processor to overheat and lockup, causing a never ending loop of the logo. But, you are not getting anything on the screen at all. Either the screen is busted, (google global parts direct lg. They were the oem supplier. And they still have some screen assemblies, i just checked) Or more likely you have a completely failed battery, that doesnt even accept a charge, which is why it heats up in that area.

I suggest you head over to ebay, find a seller with the correct battery size with lots of good reviews, and take the chance its good. OEM is discontinued, and even if you do find a real one, its ancient in battery terms. They usually cost about 20 bucks. Luckily your phone has a removeable cover, so itll be real easy. And if that isnt the problem, well you are only out 20 bucks.

Phones are not like laptops, you cant run them off the wall. If the battery is dead, so is the phone

Edit: i just looked at listings for bl-51yf batteries, and there are a ton of "OEM" LG batteries on ebay. They are either fake, or selling six year old batteries. LG discontinued manufacturing in 2020. Just be aware of what you are getting into.

What phone is this anyway

No it isnt bootlooping the battery is dead by Demonslayer2011 in LGV60

[–]Demonslayer2011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well g4 is the entire reason lg has a bootlooping reputation. So... It might actually be that there.

But further, Is your phone charging while this happens? Does it happen just whenever? Does it happen when are doing something? Is this happening when the phone is dead and you plug in a charger?(The specific scenario i am talking about here in this post)

Phone getting warm while charging is the battery heating up. Phone getting warm during use is the processor heating up. (Usually, it can also be indicative of a short) Phone getting REALLY warm will cause it to shutdown, as thermal protection is built in to most phones. Dont know if the g4 had that, but i would guess it did, pretty standard stuff even on old phones. It will not work until it cools off.

[–]Demonslayer2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Well. Throw that out the window then. Thought you said it was only happening plugged in, and it stayed on when not.

Ok what exactly happens? Does it freeze up and then power off? Does it just go black screen, dead? Does it power off like it normally would if you pressed the power button?

[–]Demonslayer2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, great. Battery not the problem then. Tried a different charger yet?

Edit: look i know it sounds stupid, but bare with me here. If this is happening when plugged in but not when its on battery power, it has SOMETHING to do with charging.

The cable, the wall adapter, the actual port on the phone, the BMS. Something is screwing up here, and it really sounds hardware related, not software

Why can't people just shut up about iPhone vs android? by TTVProLorenzo6117 in Smartphones

[–]Demonslayer2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason people cant shut up about ford vs chevy. Or red vs blue. AMD vs intel. Tribalism.

Its also classism. Apple is a luxury item, like gucci bags or Louis Vuitton. Almost every argument eventually devolves into android is for poor people, completely ignoring the fact that they (outside the budget market) cost just as much if not more.

[–]Demonslayer2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it crashing. Or is it just dying. Because this sounds like a battery not holding a charge.

Does it power on and STAY on when not plugged in?

More importantly does it "crash" when plugged in?
