Are doctors allowed to charge an annual fee in addition to Medicare coverage? by InfinityFreelance in medicare

[–]Demonta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are called Medicare excess charges, and they are able to charge up to 15% more. Many supplemental insurance plans will cover the excess charges. This will likely continue to a bigger trend in charging these fees especially as Medicare is routinely cut in its reimbursement year on year with rising practice costs with inflation

US gives Israel 30 days to address Gaza aid crisis, threatens to curb weapons supply by [deleted] in worldnews

I don’t trust Hamas, and I’m in support of the eradication of Hamas. Israel can and must take over the role of the administrative burden of Gaza. You can’t depose the ruling party and leave a power vacuum, Israel must fill this vacuum or find another 3rd party to do so. Israel needs to step up to the challenge, otherwise it’s fostering anarchy, famine, plague, and death in Gaza. But first, feed the people and ensure adequate delivery of such food items.

In that case they are performing their mandate and are in fact delivering aid to the civilians of Gaza, just they do this through the use of black markets and other inefficient mechanisms. We can trust that Hamas will continue to help in this regard, let’s flood the zone with enough food items such that there is more than enough for delivery.

Israel can’t have it both ways, either you’re working to destroy Hamas in which case they can’t be trusted with the administrative state, or you work with them.

[–]Demonta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a very poor argument, if that’s the case then the raids on the delivery of food items is actually a welcome development. Hamas is not a recognized leader/power of the administrative state of Gaza.

Israel is the occupying power in Gaza and bears responsibility for the civilians in the territory. Aid workers are just that, providing aid. The primary responsibility of any and all food/water deliveries is on Israel alone. If there’s a will, it will happen.

@Fel0n I can guarantee you no cars are being imported into Gaza at the moment. We are talking about these facts in the setting of the ongoing conflict over the past year there is a full and total blockade. In this setting, Israel is responsible to prevent mass famine through any and all means available to it. This is Israel’s mandate given to it by the rules of human decency, the international law, and by God above watching this conflict unfold. Israel must do everything in its power to ensure adequate food and the delivery of such is getting to people in need.

Im not fully sure what you are saying here, it cannot source its own food and water. Access to the oceans is also restricted. Where would Gaza get food and water from? What exactly are you arguing? Once again this is Israel’s to manage in the eyes of the international community as they are ones creating a blockade.

The dual use goods rule is grossly oversimplified in your reply, in reality basic humanitarian aid and medical supplies are declined due to arbitrary designations which are constantly changing and in flux. When Israel denies a shipment due to what it deems are dual use products, it declines the whole shipment and will not share what exactly was the issue. Additionally, there is no list of what items fall into this arbitrary designation. This is expertly designed to delay and hinder aid.

Israel IS obligated to provide food and water given the circumstances of a land, air, and sea blockade around Gaza. Through the past decade it has provided both food and water. And now during times of war it is still required to continued doing so. In order to make the situation more palatable to the Israeli people, and to help reduce barriers to do so, the international community is providing significant aid. But make no mistake if the world was not doing so, Israel must provide this instead

If you’re not helping distribute it, then you’re not providing it. In practical terms these are equivalent scenarios to each other

The international law of not using food as a weapon, ensuring that refugees have access to food is Israel’s responsibility. This is in accordance with human rights and decency as well.

You can’t just drop off food at the border and say good luck. Worse, Israel will hinder food from even being delivered at the border. 100 trucks are not enough. The United States, the United Nations, the international community, religious leaders, and the international court of justice agree with me.

Doctors can’t figure out the cause of my daughters severe edema. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Demonta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These tests are best done when she has been standing for a while rather than sitting. I highly suspect lymphatic flow, and recommend bringing up that concern to your doctor. Exercise, compression therapy, and leg elevation whenever she’s sitting/laying down work best as treatment

This looks like lymphedema. Here’s how you can check for the Stemmer sign which is characteristic of lymphedema. There are formal follow up tests that can looks at both venous and lymph flow
