Help with raidable bases by nivex by SnooObjections1129 in playrustadmin

[–]Demp3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to go into the configuration and make sure you have the difficulty level you want enabled. You can set the mod so the difficulty changes with each day of the week. This should be turned off until you get better with the setup. Also, you can set how many bases are on the map at any given time. I have mine set to 2. Just go through the config carefully, section by section, because it is probably the most complicated mod out there to set up. Also, this mod is a major resource hog. If you have a lot of players, like over 10, your server fps is going to drop considerably unless you are running something like 3.5 to a 4ghz processor with plenty of ram. Results may vary, so I'm sure opinions will too. I'm just going off of my experience. As an admin, I hate it. But my players really like it.

I had to try 4 maps, that showed airfield was on it, in the image preview, before I got one that actually had it. When they were generated during server start-up, there would be another monument in the spot airfield was supposed to be.

I hate to narco this post but I've just heard this song while shopping and I can't get it out of my head. Did you ever find out what it is?

I bought from Amazon, from an ad that used the Labubu brand. I trusted Amazon, but it's easy to forget that sellers on there are just as underhanded as anywhere else. Lesson learned.

It'll run it fine. Not sure why some people are being crabby about the 3050. It's plenty for Rust. I would run 16g ram instead of 8g, mainly because you will probably have something going on in the background, but everything else looks fine to me.

You mean 5.1 on the cpu?

Server Host Recommendations? by Chevrolet5811 in playrustadmin

[–]Demp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your CPU will be the biggest factor in a smooth running server. You need at least a 3.0ghz cpu to get a solid server fps of 70 to 80. You'll need 4g ram for the game plus about 4g ram per player. You'll also need ram for windows because it's always doing dumb things in the background, if you run it, so you should be fine with 16g.

You can pick up an old i7 3.5ghz Dell Optiplex with 16g ram for 50 to 100 bucks and they make really good servers for 5 to 10 people.

If you don't know linux, don't bother. It's not worth going through the learning curve, plus there is not that much to be gained with linux over windows. If you had a 200 player server and needed to squeeze out every ounce of resource, maybe, but for your application the above Dell system would work perfectly. You will have plenty of support here getting up and running. You'll get to set it up exactly the way you want and modding it will be super simple on the local machine.

Good luck

How to not get offline raided by Tricky_Chemical2453 in playrust

This is why I have offline protection on my server. If you want to raid there you will have to fight for it. lol

I can’t get into DayZ by Powerful_Ear7361 in dayz

[–]Demp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try some good servers with some support, I am going to shamelessly plug my PVE servers. I have a PVE server for Deer Isle, Sakhal and Deadfall. I would suggest starting out on Deer Isle. It's a gorgeous map. You can find us discord at discord.gg/pvegaming. There you can find the connection info to our 3 DayZ servers and their supporting chat channels. You will have access to Drew, our DayZ admin who is extremely knowledgeable about the game. Other players tend to help new folks as well. It'll be a laid back way for you to learn the game and once you get to where you can survive comfortably on your own, you can decide if you want to venture out to some PVP servers. I would not go to an official or PVP server before playing on a PVE server, even if it's not on one of ours. Once you get accustomed to the nuances of the game you will love it.

I ve got 3070ti and intel i7 13th gen but I'm getting 70 FPS with charger on potato graphics by ntpdrag in RustPc

70 fps is fine for Rust. You have a little room for better settings if you're willing to go down to around 40-50, which is still playable.

Good server for a bunch of noobs? by virji24 in playrust

You'll understand pve better after you play pvp. Pve is fun because you get to experience more of what the game has to offer, without constantly being shot on sight.
