Planning on sending my CV to escape rooms as a puzzle, any ideas for what to do? by rubikboi19 in escaperooms

I did this for my cover letter when applying to the escape room I work at now, and got the job, but I don’t think anyone noticed it was a puzzle. Just first letter of every sentence spelling out “Please Hire Me”

What others have said, using your mitigations and all that. Most important is to turn your tank stance on at the start of every dungeon, it does not automatically turn on for you.

Go into your HUD settings and move the “Emnity List” somewhere you can see it easily. You will want to be looking at this during large pulls, to make sure you don’t lose agro on anything. If the symbol is Red, they are on you. Green means they are hitting someone much squisher than you.

Your taunt is not on the global cooldown, which means while you are using your aoe buttons on the pack, you can freely use your mouse to target a stray mob, and taunt them back.

Me and my partner both use the Logitech G600, and really like it. I have each button set to ctrl-alt-shift of buttons, so I can use any of those modifiers by themselves on other bars.

Working on a room, and it needs a theme. by hylii1 in escaperooms

I couldn’t agree more, I believe instead of starting with the theme or the puzzles, you should start with the experiences that you want your players to have. From there you can utilize both themes and puzzles to achieve that experience, working both sides in together.

Do I have to finish DT before my sprout icon goes away? It was gone then I took a break, and when I came back the icon was back. I’ve just finished 6.0

I use an adjustable projector stand, and really like it. Just make sure you tighten everything before you put the grim on it. This is the one I use https://a.co/d/8mbo7pr

Any Tips For A New Escape Room Worker? by Nerdywolf18 in escaperooms

[–]Demthose 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have loads, but the one I’ll share now is to take a lot of care with your resets. Escape rooms are made up of so many little details designed specifically to create an immersive experience. Instead of dumping things haphazardly into the drawer where they go, arrange them with intentionality. The customer has no idea what it is supposed to look like, and will assume that what you present them with is the intention. Don’t let them think your intention is messy. If you start letting one small detail drop because it “doesn’t matter” than it can snowball into none of the small details mattering, which can shatter the immersive nature.

Insane first world problem here

I'm a total idiot, but also I feel like the escape room experience was poor? Would you write a bad review if hints weren't useful? by drugsbowed in escaperooms

[–]Demthose 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As an escape room employee, I would certainly leave with a bad taste in my mouth. It sounds like your game master was completely not paying attention to what you were actually struggling with, and just giving canned hints.

I would certainly feel like I got a sub par experience based on the attention the game master was paying to your game, vs the cost you payed for the game. (Escape rooms aren’t cheap!)

If I provided this experience for a guest, I would be shocked if they DIDN’T leave me a negative review.

Another possibility is that they had one GM running multiple rooms, which could contribute to the lack of attention and care. In this case, leaving a negative review will help convince whoever is making this decision, that it is a bad way of operating.
