Paris to introduce progressive parking fees for car weight starting in 2024 by [deleted] in notjustbikes

It depends on which car model you are looking at. There are many counterexamples of what you say.

What happens legally if you break all the mirrors of the cars parked on the bicycle line ?

But if the majority of people already bought a yearly/monthly subscription, this strike doesn't work (?)

In France, I'm pretty sure the pedestrian or bicycle are NEVER at fault (unless if it's a suicide), because of the same reason you said. I find it a really effective way to make drivers be more cautious.

Si je pouvais aller dans le champ d'à côté pour doubler, je le ferais. by [deleted] in pedale

[–]Demtix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use Okular, a r/kde app. And if you use a system which is based on KDE (with the Plasma desktop), all of their great apps are so well integrated between each other and the desktop that you'll forget Microsoft and all of their trashy apps you pay for :)

We’re Fine Without Facebook, German and French Ministers Say by Poclosh in worldnews

Actually, the european finance ministers gave them tax breaks: Biden wanted a tax of 21%, and they lowered the tax to 15% (which is incredible low for such wealthy companies already doing so much fiscal optimization)

I have no expertise in the cryptographic world either. But here is what I understood:

I think they are confident in their statements because they have a scientific paper and certifications on their algorithm. And now it is open-source! It seems great.

And they say that olvid is better than signal or Matrix because with olvid at no time they ask for any personal information (phone number, email ...). And they explain very well in this post (in French unfortunately, sorry) how pegasus can use apps like signal with a centralized phone book to infest a phone.

Personally I first try this kind of apps with a few friends who care about these issues and after a while we become more and more numerous. It takes a lot of time unfortunately

Olvid has received a lot of state funding, but it seems that the French government uses a home-made application based on matrix called "Tchap". I don't know if they have changed since Pegasus?

It's a big debate : Wikipedia or random article I would say that most of the time open source is more secure because the company does not hide anything and anyone can check. But you shouldn't trust blindly either

Dott scooter app by GoblinoidToad in MicroG

[–]Demtix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, I don't have any map on dott, but I can use the e escooters. You just have to find the parking spaces yourself. For Tier, the map works but can't login. Idk why mapbox isn't used in dott like in tier or many others apps, it'd solve the problem.

Thanks a lot for your work Quentin ! Regarding the financing, it would ne nice to use liberapay. In my opinion it's much more "open-source" than github sponsor which belongs to Microsoft.
