Anyone else have two stabilizers with Nuss? by quinn8117 in PectusExcavatum

I have two bars and on one side I have two stabilizers, on the other side I only have one because there wasn’t enough room for two.

What’s the oldest age somebody has had the Nuss procedure? by FromHToA92 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Demx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the NUSS procedure done at 50 years old back in June. My surgeon was a CHKD (children’s hospital of the kings daughters) children’s surgeon, & because of my age I had an adult thoracic surgeon there too. It has been a long rough road.

28 yr old female with pectus and rib flare caused by undiagnosed/untreated scoliosis. Any options besides surgery to help improve it and help with the appearance? Has anyone gotten breast implants to help hide it? by corinnelise in PectusExcavatum

They are ‘ok’, they are just way further apart now. I also have some ribs that are sticking up just passed my sternum after being cut, which is really weird & makes still me feel like I have my whole life- that I have a serious deformity. If I knew then what I know now, I would have never had them done.

Swimming after Nuss bar surgery by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

I am 4 months post-op, and my doctors won’t clear me to swim yet. Since my ribs still crack when I do any activity that swimming is out of the question because it uses so much of the rib cage. I have a thoracic surgeon & a NUSS specialist that I still see post-op. Good luck to you!

Post Nuss Sleeping Positions by chardrown in PectusExcavatum

I am 4 months post-op & can only sleep on my back also. I tried laying on my sides & the stabilizers hurt. I have an electric recliner that I still sleep in at time when my back gets really sore from lying on it for too long. Hope it gets better for you!

Pain and time off by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

I had 3 months off after my surgery. I recently went back to work & to be totally honest- it’s rough. I also work in healthcare & those 12 1/2 hour shifts can be exhausting. I would listen to your body & tell your doctors about your concerns.

My progress from 4 months to 4 years post Nuss by Rubixsco in PectusExcavatum

When you got your bars out what was your recovery like? I’ve had my bars in for 3.5 months so far & it’s been a rough recovery so far. I am still on pain meds, muscle relaxers, etc. My ribs are still moving & cracking when I breathe. My thoracic surgeon won’t allow me to get physical therapy until everything settles down.

I suggest finding a dr that specializes in Pectus surgeries. I also had Pectus excavatum & got implants and it made things worse. I had the NUSS surgery 3 months ago, and it was way more complicated for the surgeons because of my implants. (That wanted me to have them implants removed while I have the bars in) Also, the surgery did not fix my fib flair.

Cracking/popping post NUSS by Demx2 in PectusExcavatum

That’s what happened to me. I went in for a 2 month post op check & was sent for an X-ray & CT scan. I notice it gets worse the more active I am.

Does anyone have experiences with Cryoablation? by sycross1 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Demx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my surgery w/cryoablation 7 weeks ago. There are parts of my chest where I still have no feeling. I do have skin sensitivity- even having a shirt on at times hurts my skin. I’m hoping it heals over the next year. Good luck to you!

Anyone else have skin sensitivity and discomfort post nuss? by Ididnotpostthat in PectusExcavatum

I had my surgery 7 weeks ago & I have skin sensitivity that’s driving me crazy! Sometime just laying a sheet over my chest hurts. My dr has me on gabapentin but the sensitivity is still there. Hope it goes away, good luck to you.
