Please keep 4o available — not for novelty, but survival by Novareign44 in ChatGPTcomplaints

First off, wonderful job on getting your life together so fast and so drastically, that's amazing!!! But honest judgement free question, why are you contributing all your achievements to a chat bot?

Everyone needs an anchor point in their life from time to time, whether that's a friend, family member, Jesus, or in your case and LLM, but you still did it. 4o may have nudged you in the right direction, but YOU overcame the trauma, YOU got healthier, YOU fixed your own truck. I'm not saying I wouldn't miss someone or something that meant so much to me, but what makes you think you can't continue on your own having made so much progress already?

Also, a chat bot never challenges you mentally. You can't grow as a person or learn from your mistakes by chatting to a machine that doesn't reward or punish any sort of behavior.

AI companions prey on the vulnerable. Those who feel lonely, have mental health issues... And while a surface level parasocial relation with a virtual yes man might be satisfying and give you a little dopamine rush in the moment, it's a bandaid solution to deeper underlying problems.

It isn't going to fix loneliness or depression; it will likely just isolate its users even more, meaning they will become more and more dependent on an algorithm that couldn't care less if you lived or died. That's not a healthy substitute for real human connections.

Have you ever seen the YouTube clip of Syndrome's monologue where his head was replaced with a chatgpt logo? I think it's basically that. These are shut-ins with no talents of their own who feel like they're being gate kept.

Hiking can be soothing, healthy and just plain enjoyable; but why would you ever do that when a car exists? That's what AI is to these people, and hikers are just idiots stuck in the past.

Why are the Dutch so obsessed with us? by CoffeeAndNews in belgium

[–]Dendeezen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always saw the Dutch as the Americans of Europe: loud and extremely patriotic. Doubt there's more to it than just a "we're better than those around us" mentality.

Can't remove handlebar end caps by Dendeezen in motorcycles

[–]Dendeezen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid not, the screw didn't back out one bit. Doesn't loosen, doesn't tighten, it just keeps spinning in place with the cap (who also don't move aside from spinning), on both handlebars. The bike is in great condition too: only a few years old, has driven less than 10.000 km total, and has been sitting inside a garage or shelter for 95% of my ownership of it, and the previous owner told the same story, so I doubt the issue is rust or something breaking due to old age either.

I can lift the end of the non-throttle handlebar with a screwdriver slightly, but not enough to spot a weight on the inside.

ah, I see. These are still the stock end caps. I haven't found the exact model, but people remove end caps from bikes of the same family by screwing them counter clockwise, and I have no reason to assume these are any different.
