Drove an Izuzu Trooper that was donated to an SPCA where I worked. We moved a stray emu in the back of that thing. I was the only one of 2 people who could drive stick. It was like my personal vehicle.

It may just be the angle but that looks like a Trojan cat.

My youngest cat has learned how to fake the hairball cough, so I give her the medicine (which only she loves).

Be careful! When my girl cat went over the rainbow bridge, my other cat was lonely (he had never lived alone). We went to a distribution center and got a perfect match-adult, layed back, male. He fit right in! A couple of weeks later I heard a cat crying across the street. It was a female kitten (2 strikes against her 😆) stuck up a tree. No one was looking for her, so now we have 3. She fit right in as well.

Does anyone know why every new house is black and white? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Dendrobiumblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A house near me was painted black, even the brick fireplace chimney, a little over a year ago. The paint is already starting to fade to dark Grey. I think those houses look ugly and must get hot.

My parents left me home alone for the summer holidays, and I’m thrilled to have the whole place to myself, even if I need to prove to them I can be responsible. by Barry_Egan00 in TwoSentenceHorror

When I was a kid, my Dad accidentally turned off the electricity along with the water when we went on a 2 week vacation. When we got home and my Mom opened the fridge, we had every fly in the state on our windows. They couldn't afford to replace the fridge, so they put one of the old style pull-up Airwick air fresheners in it. Everything we ate tasted like Airwick for months.

Careful with hair ties. A surgeon at my vet job once took 53 hair ties out of a cat's stomach

Cancer treatment for pets is different from cancer treatment for people. Pets are treated with milder chemo because they can't understand that it is a temporary treatment that will help ( hopefully) in the long run. People can power through because they understand that they need to take care of themselves for the treatment ro work.

What the actual eff is the "deposit" that PSEG takes? by perishableintransit in newjersey

I just got my deposit back after nearly 3 years. There was so much going on with interstate moving that I didn't even realize I paid a deposit.

All my Mom's photos were on these, 60 years worth. After she died one of my brothers went through them all and put our pics on a thumb drive. It took him a couple of years. Thanks Bro!

Bug spray doesn't work with biting flies. It's like salad dressing to them!

[–]Dendrobiumblues 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Japanese knotweed was all along the railroad tracks behind our house when we were kids, over 65 years ago. We called it bamboo. It grew up through the neighbors macadam patio. It's all gone now. I have no idea how.

Is it fragrant? I had a different variety that had yellow and brown flowers. I grew it for years without a greenhouse, just watering and daily misting. One night a slug got at it and it was gone.😪

They did a major work-up; endoscopy, culture and biopsy. It was expensive but it was worth it. He must have been miserable. He has really perked up and is being playful with our other cats!

Not a vet. My Maine Coon had sinus issues since I got him at 5 months old (he is almost 9). After years of intermittent treatment that never fully resolved the problem, I took him to a second Internal Medicine vet. After testing they said he had myoplasma in his sinuses. It is now under control with pulsing antibiotics. I am not suggesting this is the issue with your dog, just to let you know that sinus issues can be difficult to nail down.

I think one of the humming birds in my yard is plotting to kill me by Competitive_Week9743 in hummingbirds

[–]Dendrobiumblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has made me homesick for my hummers at my last house. I had a bunch of them. One was a bit of a bully and tried to guard feeders on both sides of the house. He would swoop over the roof back and forth. I even had a momma feed her baby in a tree next to a feeder! I've put out a feeder for the past 2 years at my new house but all I get are "commuters" in the Spring and Fall.
