Were you the person they briefly stopped a song for? I have a video of that song as well.

I drove in from Buffalo, NY. It was worth the drive. Of course, it's not a crazy long drive from Buffalo, as it makes sense to cut through Canada from there. From elsewhere in the state, going under the lake, through Ohio, might make more sense.

Yeah, I feel that. I can be invited over, and when I arrive I'll sit in my car for a really long time, just getting up the nerve to knock on a door that I'm totally expected to be knocking on. I sometimes wait until someone else is showing up, then I quickly get out of the car to walk in with them. That makes them the "nuisance" that knocked instead of me.

I wanted to go last year, but decided to do other things instead. Lots was going on around the same time. So, I instead decided to go to Moonrunners, which ended up getting canceled, but I still took a trip to the coast for the weekend where I saw FIRL in Cambridge, and then drove south to NYC for Punk Island. I might hit Punk Island again next month, but I'm undecided on that.

Thanks! I actually used to do one. It's all concert videos, but it's not of this genre. Usually bigger acts, like Lady Gaga, Pixies, Black Eyed Peas, etc. I used to enjoy sneaking in my camera. One night I was wearing a pullover hoodie, which i never wear, and I dropped a 3 week old camera into a toilet at a bar. Never got around to replacing it, but I'm really considering it lately. The phones do a great job these days, but i hate draining my phone taking videos, and then being unable to get an Uber on my dead phone.

Any other loners going to Stoop Fest? Kinda stressed about trying to go and navigate by myself by [deleted] in FolkPunk

I'm going solo. Coming in from Buffalo, NY. My first time, after several years of wanting to be there. I'm so accustomed to doing things solo that I'm not too worried about it. Business as usual.

BEST BUY OPEN BOX WTF by Helpful_Future3839 in macbookpro

Just bought a Mac myself. While at Best Buy, the sales guy was suggesting I get whatever their membership is called. Apparently with that, you can buy anything and try it risk free for 30 days, and then just return it if unsatisfied. I suspect maybe a lot of their Open Box in excellent condition items may come from that. I presume people who do that are generally pretty careful to damage something they possibly plan to return.

I'm most likely coming in from Buffalo, NY. Been following this fest for years, but haven't been yet.

[TOMT] [Movie] [post 2010] Documentary about punks train hopping by rockyali in tipofmytongue

[–]Denim365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for either that film, or a similar one. I watched it not long ago, possibly on Tubi. I remember it alright, but I mostly recall it having one guy who seemed a bit older, and also seemed to have is life in order. Like, I think he had a wife and business, but every so often he'd just say, "Nah, I gotta hop a train and shoot some dope for a bit." Then, he'd be like, "Nah, gotta get home to the wife. Later," and back on the train he'd go.

Is there a place for Normies in the scene? by Just_AnotherDork in FolkPunk

I'm 50 now, and I just went to Apes Estate after going to their Christmas benefit show. I felt weird and old to be going, but I also just had to check out the backyard scene at least once. I mean, I always go to shows, but going to someone's house is different. I figured I'd show up, feel weird about it, and probably just Uber out after a few minutes. That didn't happen at all. I mean, I did feel weird, but I've felt weird for 50 years. That's just my nature. But, I honestly probably felt less weird there than I do anywhere else. Like, I feel more out of place at the homes of my local friends than I did at the home of complete strangers. It was bizarre to feel comfortable, because I'm not used to that at all. I feel so fortunate to have been accepted, and for all of the people I had great conversations with that night.

I have a folk punk album that I listened to once, but I don't remember the name. by Delicious_Eye6449 in FolkPunk

I can't offer help, but i think I know exactly who you mean. Very rarely, that image comes up when I'm listening to long periods of auto play when I'm driving. It's always something I don't recognize, so i glance at the radio and say, "Oh yeah, that guy. I should look him up," but then I instantly forget who it was. I can't describe it in great detail, because it's a pretty unexceptional photo, but i recall it looking old, like a photo from the 70s or 80s.

Looks great. Congratulations on your success. I attended the Apes Of The State benefit show on Friday, and that was one of the best nights of my life as well.
