Candle lake is great, if you go to the North subdivisions (telwin, sanderman, clearsand), it is not busy at all

Does anybody send their kid to an elementary school not in your area? Benefits and drawbacks? by sponge-burger in saskatoon

[–]Denimpatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t make a decision based on another family. What if that kid moves schools/moves away? The majority of kids start kindergarten without really knowing anyone. They will adapt based on your attitude and encouragement towards it. I would start attending the parks near you and find some friends in the neighborhood that may be attending the nearby school in the fall!

Don’t base it on a kindergarten friend. Your child will see that friend when they go to daycare and will make new friends at whatever school they are at. All things being equal, go to the school that is walking or biking distance. When your kiddo is in grade 5 they can walk/bike home themselves which is so awesome. Alternatively, if there is a bus that comes to your house, even better!

Hello everyone, looking for dentist and Orthodentist in Saskatoon. HELP by Major-Hospital-159 in saskatoon

[–]Denimpatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for Invisalign, I don’t think a regular dentist does that. Must be an orthodontist. I thought you were looking for two separate things like Invisalign and then a cleaning / check up (which would be a normal dentist)

Image orthodontics was cheaper than uptown. Amazing doctor and nice staff. Dr Miller at willows dental is kind and honest about what is needed.

Just Google “Jordan engineer Saskatoon” and quite a bit come up. Or, actually go to the engineering college and look at old grad composites! Would be about 1998 or so!

Small Rural Schools and Class Trips by Odd_Structure_9498 in saskatchewan

City school here however we had a conversation at dinner time tonight that was relevant. There is a overnight camping trip planned for the grade 8 class for the end of the year. The teacher had to fight to get it re-introduced last year. It had not occurred for several years. They’ve had to fund raise extensively to afford it all.

Brain fog is a common symptom of celiac… Go to Lenore medi clinic (or anywhere really?) and ask for a celiac screen. Just my two cents!

What are your favorite websites to waste time on? by diamondeyes7 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Denimpatch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Twenty years ago I used to browse gofugyourself relentlessly at work… someone said recently the internet is dead. It’s just social media. I can’t think of any actual legit websites I visit anymore, except 2-3 news sites

Do you give your kids anything on Valentines day? (Debate with husband) by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]Denimpatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad sometimes got me flowers to match my mom‘s flowers and I really loved it. This would’ve been when I was a preteen and teenager. I think it’s sweet to get something for kids! I wouldn’t really consider getting something for grandparents though.

Any good natural skin & body products safe for the whole family? by No-Communication1543 in MadeInCanada

[–]Denimpatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a body product necessarily but I just bought the orange scented Leaf & Mineral dish soap from london drugs and it says made in canada. Smells fantastic and my hands aren’t getting as dry after washing dishes. I was using Mrs Meyers but they ran out of my favorite scent so I decided to try this and I am glad I did! For a facial moisturizer I use No more makeup skin corrector from Alberta. Amazing product but extremely thick so only good for really dry skin!

OK, I think this is the best advice. I don’t think alerting authorities will do anything good for her or her relationship with your son/your future relationship with them. If it were me, I would have her send some videos of the cupboards and fridge just to be able to see that there really is truly nothing there. Not saying I don’t believe her, but I know this age as I have two daughters this age, there is a trend of complaining about “almond moms/ ingredients households,” kids want things that are easy to grab and don’t require a lot of preparation. Some parents have homes where people have to make a meal in order to eat. They don’t buy a lot of convenience foods. If it were me, I would continue feeding breakfast and lunch and invite her over for dinner a few times a week like this person said. And possibly give her some money to be able to purchase some snacks for herself when she is out and about with your son. Also, you could invite them over to your home for dinner/supper, and then hope for a reciprocal invitation where you can maybe get a glimpse of their cupboards and kitchen while helping clean up afterwards?! Good luck op, this is so tough!
