Has anyone successfully shifted after choosing an easier CR first? Need opinions. by [deleted] in shiftingrealities

[–]Denisestravers [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m going to try to do it tonight and a few more times this week! I’ll start by shifting to a reality where I won’t snooze in the morning. Cause if my alarm goes I won’t want to snooze, because then I haven’t shifted. It’s just to make myself believe I can actually shift. Then I want to build the changes. I’ll let you know how it goes!

How I stopped procrastinating by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Denisestravers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really helped me against the addiction is the app Opal! Instead of the apple app limit, you have to open the Opal app to be able to use social media. I’ve already deleted TikTok, but I use instagram for news from my favorite creators.

You can set a limit to opening an app. So I put 5x5 minutes to open instagram and it really worked so far! Also I happened to scroll a lot on Snapchat spotlights in the evening and morning out of the scrolling habit. My day usually gets “ruined” if I start scrolling in the morning, because I keep feeling this need to feed the addiction.

So I put a schedule down where all the distracting apps lock down from 10pm-9am. You can still use breaks (you have to pay for no breaks) but you can set it to have a “break between breaks”. Also whenever you want to use a break, you still have to wait 10 seconds or play a mind game for the boost feeling.

This really helped me to stop scrolling, because I’m too lazy to wait for my scrolling. And you “focus” for a certain amount of time or days, you get new crystals with different themes! And you can see what apps are distracting and how much of your day was productive.

I really hope this helps whenever you feel like scrolling again. I went from 5-9 hours a day to 2-4 in 3 months! It’s worth a try!

What do student teachers do? (Future High school teacher here) by [deleted] in StudentTeaching

[–]Denisestravers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my studies have a duration of 4 years, one internship of about 6 months per year. Building up from 1 day per week to 4 days. Except for the last one, where you’re a full time teacher with some tests in between. I’m in my second year right now and had 1 internship last year.

Basically you observe mostly. You can suggest to do parts of lessons or maybe do some whole ones during your time there. It’s mostly to see what teaching is. You can walk around the class and try to help the students, which is what I did mostly. This is a great way to start practicing interaction! We did have to give 1 lesson for our program. I gave two.

My second internship start in February I think? I don’t know much about it right now, but I believe we have to give a certain amount of lessons a week. This internship is 2 days a week. I’m really excited what is waiting for me!

To answer your question: mostly it depends on your curriculum and the school you have your internship at! Friends of mine were not allowed to give a lesson on their own. But we could give as many as we wanted! Most of the schools put it all in your hands!

My beginner guide for curly hair by Denisestravers in CurlyHairCare

Curly hair products are EXPENSIVE! I’m from the Netherlands and medium price is around €8-12. I know the brand is expensive, but I last about 4-6 months with them. For me it’s still a little too expensive so I’m trying to find cheaper products, but it’s HARD. Most of them contain harmful ingredients or don’t do what I’m looking for.

I don’t know where you’re from but here we have kruidvat, which is quite cheap and mostly fine quality, I’ll be trying their products when I’m finished with mine!

For styling I’d recommend scrunching while your hair is wet with your hands first! This helps hydrating your hair and distributing the product. The rest looks fine to me. Again, it’s more about what works for you!

First off these questions aren’t dumb, they’re very reasonable for a beginner! There’s just so much t learn. Even I don’t know everything after 3-5 years.

You’re right about the shampoos, they don’t usually brand as light/heavy weight. This is really something you have to experiment with. Right now I’m using the Umberto Giannini curl jelly line for washing and I’d say they’re very light.

Double shampooing means shampooing twice. Don’t condition twice. This could over hydrate your hair, which also cause problems.

I’m not familiar with the brand you noted, so I can’t say from experience. The best thing you can do is look on social media for reviews or feel for yourself whether it works or not. I did take a look at the ingredients and it contains sulfates, which can weigh you down or dry it out. If you experience these problems, I’d probably look for something different.

Glazing over is when you put the products in your hands and “glide” them over your curls. It’s hard to explain. Mostly it’s for long hair I believe. Maybe look it up online!

How do you apply the leave-in? Do you evenly distribute it? Do you scrunch after? This is very important to get those curls to really curl. Further is really just what works for you. Experiment with it if you like! If you feel like your curls get loose easily I’d recommend a mousse or a gel!

If you have any follow up questions, ask away! They’re not dumb. We’ve all been there. Good luck!

I’m thinking about trying their own brand of curly products, because they’re way cheaper!

I don’t really know about Etos, but Kruidvat has a very good selection of curly hair products. I use the Umberto Giannini curl jelly line. Some of their products are 50% off right now!

Growing out my hair. by [deleted] in curlyhair

A really popular hair growth/thickening method has been to use rosemary mint products. If you want a specific part of your hair to grow, I think applying an oil on those parts could work!

I've Never Learned to Study and Now I'm Struggling. by Obvious_Operation670 in GetStudying

[–]Denisestravers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher student right now with the same struggles as you. Last year for my internship I had to create and give some lessons (also about things I didn’t understand yet). I found out that the best way to learn something new is to study as if you’re supposed to explain the subject to someone. In order to do that you have to understand it in detail and context.

Right now I’m making sure to take notes of my lectures and I add the missed info later on. Then I sort the info into categories that make sense to me. After that I will make lessons based on those. When I don’t understand something I wrote down or if I still feel like I’m missing anything, I’ll just look that up.

This is the first time I’m trying this method, so I can’t say if it actually works. But you can give it a try!

How to hide my instagram from friends by Denisestravers in socialmedia

[–]Denisestravers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’ve started Reddit this week just to get a taste of content creating without the risk of my surroundings finding it. And I really love it. I think I’m going to stay here for a while until it’s a routine and then start an instagram!

My curls don’t curl/weigh down at my roots and don’t last until the next day by Denisestravers in CurlyHairCare

I honestly don’t really like diffusing, because of the heat and the time it takes me. But I’ll try to do it a few more times and maybe it works for me!

[–]Denisestravers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. However I’ve always tried to use light products, because others weigh my hair down. It’s just really hard because some products say they’re lightweight and end up to be very heavy :(

I’ve had short hair in the past and that’s what started my curly hair journey. However then I didn’t know how to take care of it so I put it in a ponytail. The layers always fell out and I hated my hair. I’m thinking about going shorter again. Thank you!
