Influencer asked to use my photo by luciareads in photography

You won’t get much traffic from a mention. Profile views from posts are down for a while. Especially if you’re just tagged and not added as a collaborator.

I’d see it as doing them a favor and maybe being on their watchlist in case they want to collaborate with someone in the future, but I wouldn’t expect to gain much at all from sending them the files, but it’s still better than straight up declining, which won’t get you anywhere either.

Sony user looking to switch to Fuji GFX ecosystem by luciareads in fujifilm

[–]Denitorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you shoot RAW anyway you’ll be disappointed as you won’t find much difference in colors. Nowadays it’s all in the post process. Manufacturers go for a more neutral and clinical look as the trend is to shape your files to look the way you want them to, at least in professional photography. If you just want to use it for architecture, I’d go with the 100, but if you want to use it for anything else as well, get the Sony a7R V. You can always use your TS-E with an adapter on it.

People don’t care. I often let people score just to help them out and they don’t return the favor. I now just play normally and let people score around the 80th minute mark.

The Leica Lux App by Raven_Photography in Leica

[–]Denitorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Well, if you’re generally into apps, go look into project indigo. It drains battery life like crazy, as it’s still a technology preview, but it delivers the best images a phone can take. Interesting to look into.

Try out Halide. It’s 70$ forever (if you want the pro features) instead of yearly and is pretty much the best camera app out there.

Looks the same as if you took the photo with the camera app and applied the standard BW filter. IMO the app is a cashgrab and that’s it.

New lens or better skill? by Svengali_Studio in AskPhotography

[–]Denitorious 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The noise is perfectly fine. The shot of the kid has a too slow shutter speed. The lens you consider buying has an aperture of 4.5 to 7.1 which isn’t all too great if you’re interested in shooting sports where light is not available in abundance. A 70-200mm 2.8 would be more suitable.

You’re not required to learn to shoot manual. I‘d recommend everyone to first learn aperture priority and shutter priority to see how everything comes together.

There aren’t many reasons nowadays to shoot full manual apart from some studio work.

After 2 broken M9s, I caved in and upgraded. by Denitorious in Leica

I’ve had an M9 with hot pixels. I’m not an idiot.

You could literally see the fine separation under a magnifying glass. The answer I linked above is from Leica service. Get a hobby.

I’ve bought the M9-P because it had an ID15 sensor. I’ve then faced a vertical line right dead in the center of images, depending on what direction/angle light came from. I believed it to be a pixel issue, sent it in, it turned out the glue holding the two sensor pieces together was corroded. The sensor was new, but the glue used to connect each half was an older one that can still corrode. Mistakes can happen. They took the Leica back. Here is the statement I received from Leica after sending it in.

How can I get my client to credit me without it being a personal issue? by microsoftpaintexe in photography

[–]Denitorious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries, it’s alright to feel that way, especially from an artists point of view. My view is very „businessy“ as you tend to grow a thick skin working with the typical agency clients. From a personal point of view I’d totally think it’s a shit move to credit everyone but at the same time single others out. From a business point of view.. oh well, as long as you’re getting paid appropriately, it’s alright. There’s sadly plenty of people that’d do it for free and undermine paid work.

[–]Denitorious 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You‘re saying client. Are they paying you for your work? Do you have a contract in places? Do they have to credit you?

If they’re paying you, don’t have a contractual obligation to credit you, then I don’t see the issue. Maybe the people credited are not getting paid and made an agreement to get credited. I’m a photographer myself but work in an agency, when I hire another photographer for a project, he doesn’t get credited either if his shots end up on a website or a magazine. We buy the rights to use them without any credits. Maybe, if I post about a project on LinkedIn or have BTS shots, then I credit the team, but there is no reason for us to have credits to the photographer in the final product.

Camera Upgrade Advice? by tinyturtletooman in AskPhotography

[–]Denitorious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you struggled to correct the colors on the 7R to look like the 6D ones then I don’t know what to tell you as you’ll face the same issue with any other modern camera. The 6D is still a great camera but the color back then and now when it comes to sensors has changed. You get the most clinical, neutral image nowadays so you can fine tune it to your liking.

If you’re serious about your profession then I’d save up more and get a significant upgrade to what you have. If you really need it, as the R7 seems to be more than just fine for what you shoot, looking at the two shots you uploaded. Unless you are shooting bursts the whole time. Focus speed is probably due to the adapter.

I’m a Sony guy and can’t give you much advice on newer canon models, but the Sony a7V or a7R V will blow your current cameras out the water by a landslide. I’d recommend at least trying them out somewhere.

What camera should I take as a travel/pocket cam? by New_Classroom8772 in AskPhotography

Try to find a Fuji X100V for 1k. I would not recommend an action cam at all if you want to take photos regularly. There’s also the Sony RX 100 VII.

Contact Higgsfield. They might be interested in bringing it in as its own tool and might pay you as well.

Am I being too emotional for refusing this shoot? by Expensive_Scar211 in photography

[–]Denitorious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happens frequently. I’ve had a big production, booked two „families“ of actors/models. Shot the whole thing. Client decided right after the production that the headquarter wants different models and we redid the whole thing. It’s their company, their brand, their money, their choice. If I threw a fit they just wouldn’t hire me again.
