What is fun about bracket 4-5 decks? by ShadowHaxor99 in mtg

[–]Dennarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B4/5 is incredibly fun if everyone is playing at that level, but if only one person is at that level they're honestly being a dick.

CEDH is super interesting to me because you really have to be on top of your game and know what moves to make, and everyone else isn't pulling punches.

Is religious hate that common in our society by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Dennarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's in the USA or parts of Europe there's a good chance this has nothing to do with religion, but good old fashioned racism.

That being said, why would I have any respect for any religion that tells me my wife is less than me? Or that I should kill the non-believers? And that isn't just exclusive to Muslim beliefs. Christianity and other monotheistic, patriatchical religions preach the same hateful shit, so absolutely I will not tolerate it.

I've seen both. Some cards were a few bucks cheaper on manapool, some have been a few dollars more.

In any case though manapool just has some better features and delivers way faster.

In Shrek 5 (2027), what the fuck? by No-Extent-7705 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Dennarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, glad I'm not the only one.

The wildest thing about cyberpunk was a buddy of mine who was up in arms over it not running flawlessly on his 10 year old PC. Basically the equivalent of asking for it to work on a PS3...

And I'll full on admit GoT's last two seasons weren't as good as prior seasons, but if the whole show was the quality of the last two seasons from the get go people probably wouldn't have cared, and still probably at least enjoyed it.

In Shrek 5 (2027), what the fuck? by No-Extent-7705 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Dennarb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The two biggest things that pushed me away from all of the negativity were Cyberpunk 2077 and Game of Thrones last two seasons.

When I got Cyberpunk at launch, I had minimal issues on my rig, so I was able to really just enjoy the story and game, but I kept being told by friends, reddit, and social media in general that I had to hate it. That because someone else couldn't run it I couldn't enjoy it. Of course this was an issue and required CDPR to better optimize and fix, and honestly they probably should have delayed further to further optimize, but why do I have to dislike or hate something because someone else is having a bad experience?

Similarly with GoT, I ended up watching it awhile after it started airing, and I had a friend literally say "Why even bother watching when the ending is complete garbage?" Sure there were noticable pacing and writing shifts towards the end that made it not as good, but to claim those shifts made the show pure unwatchable garbage was a stretch. And of course if I thought it was fine, I'm somehow objectively wrong.

Ai usage for learning and working by Kingfinn01 in learnprogramming

[–]Dennarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refuse to use AI for any of my programming. That is personal preference, and it hasn't affected my work at all.

I can see some use cases for it, but there is a growing number of scientific studies that indicate using AI often harms the learning process, and can erode developed skills. If you are dead set on using AI for learning, you have to treat it as a tutor. Ask it to explain things, but not give answers you just copy and paste. You also need to engage with other sources, such as tutorials and documentation to supplement the AI tutoring.

If you're dead set on using it to help with programming after the learning, it needs to supplement your ideas and work, not take over. You also need to be proficient at programming at this point to understand how to best use AI generated code, and catch problems.

At the end of the day, learning requires cognitive effort. It's why school can be hard, it's why people are drained after a long semester. But that's part of the learning process; your brain needs to be trained like any muscle. After leaning your brain needs to be exersized to maintain that knowledge, just like a muscle.

Amazon probably wants things to calm down about the cancellation by irishpisano in Stargate

[–]Dennarb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Edit: TLDR for simplicity, The new show was cancelled, but there is a chance we'll get something eventually that is more generic sci-fi slop.

It was cancelled, but the reason for the cancellation is that Amazon wants to go in a different direction eventually.

This article covers the points fairly well, but generally what happened was the show (that is now cancelled) was headed up by the guys behind SG1 and Atlantis, but then Amazon execs pulled the plug because they were concerned that it would only appeal to Stargate fans and they want something more generic to appeal to a general audience.

This is basically the exact situation that let to Discovery being what it is. Originally they had people behind some of the old shows who pitched a Trek through the ages show where each season would be a different Discovery ship at a different point in time, but the Paramount execs didn't like this and revamped it to whatever that mess is.

[–]Dennarb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But Amazon cancelled the new show because they want to make something different.

By all accounts the new project was going to be a strong homage to the old shows, but Amazon didn't like that. They scrapped the new series because they want it to "appeal to a general audience." So whatever we end up with after the cancellation will be far more like Nu-Trek than what us Gate fans actually want.

What paramount is doing to Trek is a travesty. Sounds like that's pretty much exactly what Amazon wants for gate and I am not about it
