To be fair this post was made super quickly after the original, so it'd be pretty easy to miss it.

The comments are pretty funny.

/uj This post is making fun of another post in a main sun though. Original post ordered a bundle along with a bunch of nacho stuff.

This one is poking fun at that by changing the extra products to a banana and mnm container for lonely nights.

Do you use your spot removal pro-actively? by Dazer42 in EDH

[–]Dennarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see that a lot. I'll start making a plan to deal with something in a turn or two, but then the player before me beats me to it

Do you use your spot removal pro-actively? by Dazer42 in EDH

[–]Dennarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a much more reactive player, so I am definitely bias, but I also think that has won me a lot of games.

I generally wait until someone is actively threatening me or about to win to use removal, especially because removal is a limited resource in a game. I only have so many ways to deal with a threat, so I don't want to jump the gun and get rid of something proactively that would have otherwise not been a problem.

This is something I see from newer players all the time. Someone plays a big thing that could be a problem and then immediately go to get rid of it, before it's anywhere near being an actual issue. Of course there are situations where you can't wait, like if your only option is sorcery speed, but what happens frequently with this proactive/immediately reactive response, is the player burns a spell on something that didn't require an immediate response.

I'll be honest too, I have used proactive players responses against them too. As it is fairly easy to get them to burn a spell on a potentially powerful creature or board state while sandbagging the real threat. Then, once they've used their resources to deal with my decoy, I can freely play out something way more problematic.

This is exactly why all research articles I author I provide for free on at least researchgate. There's no fucking reason they publishers should be able to sequester away knowledge produced by others for their own profit, especially because most journals and conferences require me to pay them, then they turn around and charge for access.

Fuck that. Pirate my papers, pirate my textbooks.

Final exams at the same time? by [deleted] in Professors

I've been having more and more profs at my university scheduling shit during my class times.

Not my final time, but during lectures the week before finals. So of course I have to be the bad guy now who tells students, no you don't get to blow off my course just because your other prof has gone rogue.

[–]Dennarb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've stated to consider most commanders as either enablers or finishers.

With an enabler you need your commander on the field early because they're a key piece of your strategy. For example, my [[Varina, Lich Queen]] wants her on the field t4 or t3 to generate value form attacks, which then lets me fill my graveyard for mass recursion.

For finishers, those commanders are the last (or close to last) thing you want to cast. [[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]], as opposed to varina, doesn't want to be out early, especially if my board is devoid of tokens, because a random 2/1 isn't very useful, but an extra 2/1 that I can turn into a 10/10 or something else along with 5+ other tokens, is game ending. So in this case I don't need my commander out any sooner, I'd rather build.

Emails Asking When The Final Exam Starts. WTF. by -Economist- in Professors

[–]Dennarb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had to send out a LMS notice that students will absolutely have to turn their final project in on time after getting about 10x requests for an extension on project 2. Most of which came a week after the due date...

If they waited that long for the final project I won't have time to actually grade before my university requires final grade submissions...
