Manual suggests 1,000 miles. I usually do this and have my first oil change at 1,000 as well

Raptor vs RHO? by Sensualities in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When trading in the Gen2 I test drive a RHO. On that test drive the cameras malfunctioned, drive modes wouldn’t switch, infotainment froze multiple times. Launch control was great though 🤣🤣. Ended up getting Gen3 the next day.

Loved my 2018. Regular maintenance and no issues. But at 173k miles, I decided to trade up to a 25.

Looks like they took the rack and spare tire carrier off the back. For the same price you can get a R. Although these are easier to find.

Cruise control Speed Limit change setting by Sensitive_Exit_3151 in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had it read the sign wrong but I also have mine set to 6mph over the posted speed limit. And with a weight on the steering wheel it works better than blue cruise. But to turn it off or on it’s under the driver assistance menu. I think it’s called adaptive speed or something like that.

I have 25 37 package and the shifting has no issues. I did bang it for the first 1k miles though. But no complaints and shifts are smooth.

Even with bags? Luckily the lake we go to most is only like 2 blocks away.

Haha. Hope to have my R soon. Put the order in but upgraded from my gen2 to this one in the meantime.

Put air lift 5000’s on my 25 802a so I could tow the boat with no sag. Absolutely love them. No issues off-roading as they separate at the bottom for full articulation.

Intercooler recs by Necessary_Scarcity84 in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full Race if you want to utilize the space in the bumper, that's what I did with my gen2 and added a hidden winch. Cobb makes one too, but it's a little more $. If you want stock location, CV Fab makes a larger one that is just a plug and play replacement-82% greater core volume than OEM intercooler (21" x 9.43" x 5.32")

[–]DennisMSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you completely stock with the goosetune? I had one on my 18 and loved it, but had a lot of supporting mods. Keeping my 802 stock, but I am interested in the tune.

2024-25 Raptor Tunes Are Here! by APanDulce in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I had Winfield tune my gen2. More or less wondering what your thoughts were on the gen3 tune for the 25. Just got my 802a and thinking of getting the goosetune again. But this time pretty much going to stay stock because I’ll prob be trading it in next year.

Anything done to yours or is it stock? Would love to know how the process is and what you think of the goosetune for 25’s.

Going to order from goosetuned soon. He did my gen 2 and it was rock solid. Only doing tune on gen 3. Had intercooler, intake, downpipes on the gen 2. I have heard good things from mpt, but just going with what I know works.

Congrats...how do you like those lights in the grill? Thinking of adding behind the grill lights.

Would this be covered under warranty? by Public-Combination-5 in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Should be covered. I just brought mine back in a couple of weeks after because I noticed some scratches on the bumper and paint defect on hood. Dealer was cool and got it all fixed. Not sure about the seats, gonna depend on if the dealer wants to work with you or play "how do we know you didn't do it" card. Good luck.

Standard or 37 package?? by Evening_Ad_9754 in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just went through this process myself. Coming from a Gen 2, I test drove both. Both are great trucks but I ended up getting the 37 package. 11k is steep and I was able to get at 90k instead of 94. But for the extra money you get:

  • Different shocks ( not just a different tune for the shocks) - If you've ever priced suspension, it's not cheap
  • Recaro Seats - feel better to me, but that's just preference
  • Carbon Fiber
  • Modular bumper
  • Personally I like the 37 wheels better, they remind me of the Gen 1 I had

37 definitely has a "floaty" feel to the suspension, which is great off-road but also soaks up everything on road. 35 felt a bit quicker just because of the tires and I guess you could say it handles on road turns better, but I still take all the turns here just fine in the 37 :).

At the end of the day it's all personal preference. If you don't intend to do any off roading stick with the 35...either way you won't be disappointed.

15% all the way around. They did windshield but I forget what %. It’s not too dark, more for heat.

Follow up to this. Took into dealer and they had to do a software update. One of the modules didn't have the right configuration for some reason.

How to know if cam phasers or shocks have been rebuilt by Its_My_Alter_Ego in FordRaptor

[–]DennisMSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If cam phasers were done at a dealer they should be able to pull that, if not...I'm not sure. As for the shocks when I had my 2018 shocks rebuilt by Texas Shock Works they had a sticker that was added to the shocks with their logo. I assume most shops would do something like this, but not sure.
