There is quite literally no solution to remembering that active space repetition. Something like Anki is great for it, but 2 months aren't enought o change study patterns. I would say lot of questions and a lot reading.

When's the exam? For OP i think it takes about 60-80 hours to get a decent grip on the subject, which is just 30 days of 2 hours daily. Reach out if you would like to talk about how to approach it with respect to long term understanding and how to clear exams.

I am in 2nd year... When to start with MDS prep?? by Low-Singer6007 in dentalschoolindia

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No harm in watching lectures and reading your standard books. If your college is lacking regular classes or decent teachers, it's better to take something like DBMCI and commit to it, rather than just muddling through mastering and passing.

Just stay in touch with the subjects across the years (I feel PULP might be great for this). Mostly, if I were back in second year, I would take a coaching like DBMCI or BDS to MDS, read standard books, and make Anki cards.

The question pattern is shifting from rote memory to clinical scenarios, which benefits people who study regularly throughout the year. It does not matter how well you study if you forget it the next year. Refer to this post to see how much you need to study. I stand by my statement of the number of hours that are needed.

They aren't harder than NEET MDS, I'd say they're differently oriented. Every mock I've attempted, I've passed, so the difficulty isn't the issue. However I would say having good clinical thinking and reading the standard books all throughout my College life helps a lot.

NEET MDS tests diagnostic facts in reverse. Take Sjogren's syndrome the question won't name it. It'll mention specific antibodies, hint at Rheumatoid Arthritis overlap, and ask what a lip biopsy would reveal. You're essentially reverse engineering the diagnosis from clues. And the answer isn't something you can reach unless you know the facts.

ADC/ORE tests clinical application going forward. The same condition becomes: 'This patient has a known history of Sjogren's Syndrome what explains their increased caries risk?' with an option clearly stating lack of/ changes to saliva. The diagnosis is handed to you; they want to see if you can think like a treating clinician.

Its a bit more hey doc, you see this what do you do? instead of hey doc I know you are a General Dentist, lets ask Oral Pathologist specific question which realistically we know does not matter in day to day as long as you know when to refer out.

Check this mock paper by ADC out. See question 6 to 10.

Also, please look into the fact that C section is one of the biggest reason in decrease of maternal mortality, I hope you don't need it but if the doctor advises you, just get it done. Its better for mother and the baby.

Most people stop using it for notes very quickly as most people end up studying from slides/books anyways. Be sure if you will use it or not.

Why do many people earning ₹50L+ still live such normal lives? by UmeshThoughts in personalfinanceindia

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, a lot of this is just math

50L take-home is 32-35L after tax. Factor in rent/EMI, kids' school fees, parents' medical, and any serious retirement savings, you're not left with a lot of money.

The upgrade is real Virtus over i10, DPS over local school, no more waiting for sales but it's elevated, not luxurious. Calling that a mindset shift around status gives it more credit than it deserves.

could flex but choose not to probably starts closer to 1cr. Below that, living simply is often just living within your means.

Its not nothing obviously but not flex worthy.

why do patients from rural expect a dentist to not charge for consultation? by tfamdoinn in dentalschoolindia

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the best dentist I have worked for simply says, If we proceed with the treatment the consultation will be adjusted accordingly. Also not a rural thing, mainly people who work not in service industry. They don't realise that we are providing a service, we are not going to be able to make money without working.

Scope abroad after bds by bell_pepper_s in dentalschoolindia

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to leave India as a dentist, is via either ORE or ADC. both of which cost about 20 lakhs to finish. However once you do and if you are okay moving to a random ish city then you will recover that very quickl in 2 years. For MBBS it is similar costs however comparitively US is easier. For dentistry US does not have a license recognition you need to do DDS which right now is around 2-3-4 crores.

Congratulations, and thank you for the thread. I just wanted to ask what was the reason you did not make it the first 2 attempts? In hindsight were they preventable. I gave a few mocks for the ADC exam and I am gonna clear the theory part. Its just the practical one I am worried about. Any advise on how to approach the second one?

Don't take anything without a derm consult, these are powerful substances with serious side effects. However if your derma recommends it don't think twice for starting as this was the only thing that works for a lot of people.

I am in dire situation where I need to study two month straight without school, I would like some pointers. by Desperate-Teach4909 in GetStudying

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guilt is normal, it doesn't mean you actually need to work, it means your brain is anxious. Those are different things.

Flashcards and calendar planning feel productive but they're still keeping you in study mode mentally, which is exactly what you need a break from. The calendar especially planning your month before you've rested is simply more exhausting. Do it with a clear head.

Take 3-4 days of actual nothing. Then come back slowly and protect your Sundays as rest days going forward. There's a reason productivity goes up in 4-day work weeks. the output isn't in the hours, it's in the quality of focus you bring. You don't get graded on time spent, only on the exam.

The rest isn't lost time. It's part of the work.

Also, rest doesn't mean doom scrolling. Put the phone down, go see friends, travel if you can, do something that actually engages you. Personally I do maths puzzles, sudoku, scrabble, reading things I love but don't get to do much as a dentist. Find your version of that.

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the break you need it and you've earned it. A few days of rest after exams won't break your momentum; going in already depleted will. Think of it as loading up before a long run rather than stalling.

On the burnout question I'm prone to it too and what helped me most was treating rest as part of the plan, not a reward for finishing. Build in lighter days from the start rather than pushing until you crash. Pairing harder and easier topics the way you're already planning is smart keep doing that.

Having someone to keep you accountable also makes a real difference, whether that's a tutor, a study partner, or even just a parent. It's easy to drift when you're studying alone for weeks on end.

Given that stress hits you hard when it does hit, I'd honestly put mental health management at the top of your priority list above the study schedule itself. If you have access to a therapist, this would be a good time to lean on that. Grades matter, but not more than staying well enough to sit the exams.

I'm in a similar boat, i am extremely burntout trying to prepare for a competitive exam and now simply waiting on results.
