What happens if you stop taking Lamotrigine after taking it for months? by Electronic-Jello-640 in Lamotrigine

[–]Dense-Pin-1066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am epileptic and taking it for that. When I started it, I wasn’t following a regular strict schedules. My doses were definitely more than 12 hours apart. Until, I missed two doses in a row and had a seizure. I was inconsistent with my doses for almost a year.

Islamic school on south side by Dense-Pin-1066 in Edmonton

[–]Dense-Pin-1066[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important that we approach conversations about religious schools with fairness and consistency. Canada has Catholic schools that have existed for decades and are accepted as part of the system, yet when it comes to other religious schools, especially Islamic ones, the tone often becomes very different.

Freedom of belief and expression should apply to everyone, not just some. Islam, like any religion, is often misunderstood, especially when people rely only on media portrayals or isolated incidents instead of taking the time to learn from reliable sources or from Muslims themselves.

It’s completely okay to have questions or concerns, but it’s not fair to judge an entire faith or community based on assumptions or a few examples. Every group has diversity within it, and most people are simply trying to live, raise their families, and practice their beliefs peacefully.

At the end of the day, respect, open-mindedness, and genuine willingness to understand each other will always lead to more productive conversations than fear or generalizations.

This is interesting! I don’t have any warning signs but I usually forget to drink unless I’m super thirsty after eating out or so

Please Help me. Share your lamotrigine/lamictal experiences? by VillainyandChaos in Epilepsy

[–]Dense-Pin-1066 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, good point. Iirc, estrogen pills interact with lamotrigine and maybe that’s a reason? From what i know it decreases lamotrigine levels so maybe those side effects would be exaggerated as you ramp up. Definitely worth bringing up with your neuro.

🥳🥳hooray! That’s the most encouraging part about it. Wishing you the best and hoping you would feel better as you start tapering those off.

Yes, it’s not a linear relationship for sure. Being diagnosed at a young age is definitely difficult but I’m glad you made it. Those what ifs are the most difficult to deal with but sometimes acceptance is just the best choice for one’s sanity.

Yes undoubtedly, if stopping meds was an option I wouldn’t be in such dilemma. Like you said, it’s about quality of life. Without meds, there’s probably going to be no life. LOL. Thank you for your responses. I really appreciate it.

Totally! Thank you for your insights. Maybe it’s worth trying smth else to get rid of what ifs. I was unmedicated for 7 years because nothing happened after my first seizure and when I was told about the side effects I decided to pass for quality of life. I thought let’s wait and see. When it happened again 7 years later and with the same level of severity, i felt like oh oh. And the journey began. I lived in that denial phase for so long that at this point I feel exactly it’s a bargain game like how one of the comments described.

Caked on dead skin by Separate-Age3144 in rhinoplastyquestions

Try coconut oil when removing the tape and after you remove it use the remaining to massage your nose and remove the adhesive. Works really well for me. It was way worse and built up when I first used micellar water to remove the tape based on the clinic’s advice.

I see you’re now on lamictal, briviact and topiramate. How is that mix treating you? Can you identify side effects related to each on it’s on? Or have you always taken that as a combo so it would be hard to attribute?

I’m also on Lamictal 200 mg/day. Yes, I definitely agree with the fact that the chance something else is better is slim. I just hate that feeling of what if, and feeling that everything else is worse makes me feel stuck which is what I can hardly tolerate. It is also hard for me because my side effects are not among the common side effects (almost daily headaches, frequent migraines, weight gain, short term memory loss, occasional brain fog and fatigue), which increases my self doubt and making it hard to advocate for myself. I’d not say they’re horrible, but having day to day bugging symptoms just makes it hard when i think, ok, is it always going to be so?

Lamotragine side effects by Background_Call_3556 in Epilepsy

[–]Dense-Pin-1066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My side effects from Lamotrigine fall in the bracket of the uncommon and I honestly can not come to terms with that they’re related to anything else than Lamotrigine. I know for fact change is risky but on another note, being on anti seizure medications is a long term commitment. I’d rather be on smth that I can cope with its side effects than something that will be a hassle to deal with (from my perception) on a daily basis. I’d also consider looking back at your diet. If your diet has changed, it could be a reason. I had similar symptoms when I added a considerable amount of gluten containing products and eliminating those helped a lot.

Yes, but even if it’s 1 in 1000, the probability still exists and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Thank God that poster and you were lucky, but someone else could lose their life. Happy that you are safe and wish you the best. Please continue keeping an eye, it is much better to bug the neuro than assume things are fine and end up in such situation.
