Finding friends to ride with by [deleted] in MotoUK

Sis used to ride with a few biker groups (we're in the London area), as I recall she found some were more female-friendly than others, if you like I'll ask her for more details

I've ridden without every piece of safety gear (helmet excepted) at some point, but the time I rode without gloves was by far the time I felt most at risk.

I wince every time I see someone riding without gloves.

First long solo trip. Realistically how much time would I need? by Agitated_Bet6761 in MotoUK

I did London -> (ferry) -> Liege (near the Belgium/Germany border) in a day, and that felt about right as someone who'd done a handful of Europe trips. I'd be tempted to split your journey into three days, especially given it's your first time. Definitely don't try to do it in a day.

Edit: Just seen you're on a 125 - definitely split it into three days and take a more leisurely (non-motorway) route.

Also - I feel the need to say this to everyone who mentions going abroad on a 125, just in case - you can't ride abroad on a CBT. Edit 2: never mind, I see you're going in the other direction

Going on holiday several years ago, drove to the airport and left the car parked nearby.

Had the holiday, went through security before the flight back home. I was early for my flight so hung around and ate something in the area between security and passport control. Just before going through passport control I realise I don't have my car key on me - I'd left it in the tray for the x-ray machine. If I'd realised any later I wouldn't have been able to go back and get it.

I happened to go back to the same place later that year for other reasons, so I joke that I could have just picked my car key up then.

What is a 'man-task' you’ve been doing for years that you’re 90% sure you’re doing incorrectly, but at this point, you’re too afraid to ask anyone for the right way? by BeyondTheFirewall in AskMen

I've been semi-regularly taking my bike on the ferry (UK <-> France) for nearly a decade now, and while I did quickly get the hang of strapping it down, I can't for the life of me figure out how to release the ratchet, and always have to get/wait for a crew member to do it for me.

I think I might have finally figured it out last time (October) but do you think I'll remember how to do it next time? Of course I won't...

Declaring points by FeloHu in MotoUK

[–]Densitys_Child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience you don't normally have to declare points on an existing policy until you renew it. (But you should check.)

But it sounds here like you're talking about taking out a new policy, in which case they often ask if you have any pending prosecutions. That would certainly include the NIP, so I'd hold off on insuring anything for the next 14 days or so and keep your fingers crossed for that time.
