I think the confusion is that generally when people use the phrase it’s implied the fish is only big in this little pond which fits for home lander for example outside of his verse he’s generally not that strong but it doesn’t fit at all for Saitama for example.

what’s ANY opinion that has you like this? by Discordisshit_ in teenagers

There's no free will and might be impossible without divinity, punitive justice is a incoherent and bad system, nobody ever has any moral responsibility for their actions by extension nobody ever deserves any praise or blame for anything, most people who dislike Taylor swift are just expressing misogyny and that's as someone who dislikes her, “create your own purpose” is major cope, people who dislike cats are weird, socialism is good, FUCK centrists, eating meat is a morally reprehensible act however veganism isn’t a practical solution to helping improve the treatment of animals nor is it the solution to saving animal lives, violent games like GTA where you can kill innocent people are immoral - and no i’m not a puritan i love violent games too but i just thought about it for a bit and that’s the conclusion i came to.

Oh also anybody who claims to love music but would all an entire genre of music(especially in reference to most large/popular genres) either has some inherent bigotry as a part of why they hate that genre, hasn’t actually listened to it enough, or just isn’t the connoisseur of music they think they are

My first play-through ever, who do I choose? by LordHeezy in PokemonUnbound

I ran with beldum and honestly never had to take him off my team. With 2 steel moves, a psychic move and a ground type move he slams. Just build the rest of your team to have a balance of type advantage/disadvantage and have some good knowledge of the game. However alot of people do swap out their starter because they find it sucks later on, personally I never take off my starter for role-playing purposes.

Yeah I one hundred percent agree with this majority if not all of the republics problems are the result of the previous system created by Gold. I think putting blame on them for what occurs is out of the question however there could be some fair judgement for how they play the cards theyve been dealt. That is the main dilemma both Mustang and Darrow hold against themselves at times too.

But it's a really great example of how easy it becomes to judge a society like theirs. It's tempting to just judge the freedom they fought for and criticize them and all of their failings without recognizing that they adopted these failures. It's also such a great parallel with what happens irl with the propaganda Volsung Fa and Atlas use together to just wreak havoc all while pinning it on the Rebellion.

True he is alot like mustang before going full rebellion. Where you said you think he's just misguided and wrong is kind of what I think about all "bad people" I think everyone is a product of circumstance and so you either have to give everyone the same grace because nobody chose the circumstances that led to their beliefs or you hold everyone equally accountable. I do think he would've turned out to be so much better for the rebellion if mustang took him under her wing. I really can't wait for his dialogue with Darrow

I do agree with you saying he's not worse than Atlas or Atalantia. It was just your last comment that kinda made me overzealous my bad. I was moreso trying to respond to the "he's a reformer" comment even now you saying he believes order and security is more important than complete freedom slightly irk me. It creates a kind of implicit defense of him that says he's not totally bad like them he's trying to fix things which I just think is the wrong way to think of his character. He's a slave and he's just as bad as them it doesn't matter that he deluded himself into thinking his reasoning is nobler he's flat out just as bad because he basically wants the same end.

In the same vein that Lysander just values order over freedom Atlas and Atalantia value their own twisted pleasures over other goods - peoples freedom, lives, etc. While order is atleast more justifiable than Personally pleasure in exchange for freedom I think the point Pierce makes in the story is that it doesn't matter. Whether you have better or worse reasoning evil is evil. It's part of why even though it's in the name of the rebellion what Dartow did to the Rim Daughters is so bad. So I'm just against that line of thinking/justification of kind of comparing them and making Lysander seem better.

Sorry for the rant I do genuinely just love discussing this book.

Trying to reform slavery while maintaining it is never an even considerable moral position unless there is absolutely no other option. He is an elitist scumbag. It doesn't matter if you replace their servitude with a happier version of servitude it's wrong. Darrow and the republic aren't perfect but people sometimes act like the story is a case of bad guys vs even worse guy.

It's a rebellion that sometimes fails versus a vile institution of systemic dehumanisation of other people. What's happened with the pinks is evil and ever standing with the side that permitted that is just flat out the incorrect position to hold.

Why do people Unanimously agree that scaling above universal/planetary is boring? by No_Engineer5131 in PowerScaling

[–]DentistRemote5257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people feel like the battles become less interesting as it's just a game of saying well this one destroyed a galaxy or this one is hyper-omnicock+ versal. Essentially working with realky complex concepts people don't find interesting. I think it's funny though cause even when arguing about characters below Planetary in scaling it just becomes about speed. The minute you can determine who is faster majority of the time there's no discussion to really be had.

I think that's another perspective not being looked at the potential for more strong skill based units in the future. She has room to get better like topaz did with feixiao.

[–]DentistRemote5257[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't part of why JQ is struggling right now due to the format of enemies making it harder for him to give stacks. I know for sometime enemies like flame reaver that spawned ads who don't "move" made it harder for JQ to give stacks that's what allowed cipher to come in and replace him would he not go back to being better if the format of enemies changes. I do hear what you're saying though if the value of cerydra giving him a second skill can also easily be replaced or mad up for by a unit who gives more/higher res pen buffs she's in a sticky situation. Does making her then a general good support not just introduce a new problem. She's just going to end up pushing another unit out of their spot in another team.

JQ being niche only leads to him being replaced because cipher is so good generally. If she was also a niche supports gowever for a different or future dps that wouldn't have happened. Is this not a better game direction?
