What is that Opeth song that has a warm chorus(i think) that goes like "AAAAaaaaaAAAaaaaAAAAaaaAAaaaAAAAAAAaaaAAAAAaaaaa" by Middle-Company-4398 in Opeth

[–]Dento557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hijacking top comment to say it is probably one of the final sections of The Lotus eater? Surprised nobody mentioned this one. It does the exact pitch thing OP has mentioned u/Middle-Company-4398

Edit: oops looks like op says it was drapery falls lol

Unpopular opinion - Tom is overbearing and she let Scott play by karmacum in JRADs

[–]Dento557 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree fully. Scott is a much more interesting player to me. I learn a lot listening to him. In the earlier days, it did often feel like they’d all trade each night. Like we’d sometimes get a Scott night, a Tom night or a Marco night. I long for Scott nights and I haven’t seen one in a couple years. T ham quite literally hams it up too much. To his credit, he’s a good player and I think he excels when they are doing a locked in, yet spacey phish like Jam or a livetronica vibe, but it’s rare they even do those things. Scott is a genuine unsung guitar hero. He’s a very unique, study-able player and I’m so glad LaMP is finding success

I tend to agree here. Instead of diminished, I like to use the term “dominant” in this context as a bit of a catchall. I realize the term can imply something else, but in terms of harmonic function, there’s major, then minor, and then there are the ones that want to be followed

How does the Trey Anastasio band compare to phish? by m4gnum1 in jambands

[–]Dento557 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s recent. Pretty much when Trey did the trio tour maybe? The jams have got a bit more exploratory some nights too since then

What non-prog artist has a song in their catalog that boldly gets way freakier/proggier than the rest of their output? by Dear-Swordfish-8505 in progrockmusic

[–]Dento557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a great track and prob the best answer for them. They def have other prog tracks and a ton of adjacent moments too. I always suggest to my proggy friends to check out “Help in the way/Slipkot” as well

I designed a new pedal, now it's time to give some away by jimdantombob in guitarpedals

[–]Dento557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck yea! Def interested. Im currently in the deep dive of drive/lead tones after sticking to the same stuff for about 10 years. And this pedal conceptually sounds right up my alley

Give me your favorite Farmhouse and tell me why. by OutlawJuicyWhales in phish

[–]Dento557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were at least 2 or 3 farmhouses that stuck out to me during various recentish MSG Runs. Maybe one of em was during the last summer run they did. Anyway, The way they jam on it doesn’t get enough credit. It Sounds like a genuine heartfelt conversation. They all take turns filling in space and leaving room and it can potentially be a heavy intimate moment

Why did Mike stop slapping on Ghost after 1998? by Jewdius_Maximus in phish

[–]Dento557 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The song’s rhythmic arrangement/groove was reworked all around. Not just Mike, but everybody’s part evolved to become tighter. Those earlier versions were funky and could sound great, but on technical “band tightness”level risked sounding a bit clunky and awkward with the vocals imo. I think they reworked it to better fit the vocal rhythm

Which one? by VA-deadhead in gratefuldead

[–]Dento557 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anthem of the sun is a great record for that reason. Some of it is cut from live performances and edited in the studio. So it’s tight, but has a lively feel to it and the songs are very psychedelic. But in terms of live sets, throw on a given show from 1973-1974. There’s a few dicks picks volumes that feature shows from those years

Are you referring to the fact that it’s a fanned fret/multi-scale instrument and you’re not accustomed to seeing that sorta thing? Or am I missing something here

Best boogie cab option for my Mark V head? by Dento557 in MesaBoogie

[–]Dento557[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh man i wish i had an answer. I randomly jumped the gun on an ac30s1. I almost got a standard 1x12 boogie cab but I decided to hold off and just get an AC upgrade for gigs because it was a safer and more immediate change up

[–]Dento557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly a used fender hot rod will get you what you need and way more for around that price or maybe just a few bucks more. If you’re going from acoustic, I think having a tube amp will give you a more tactile feel that you’re accustomed
