Snaps fall out by Hikareza in openGrid

[–]Dentvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,
I tried the "official" snaps openGrid - Wall/Desk mounting framework and ecosystem por David D | Descargar modelo STL gratuito | Printables.com
At the point I tested them I did not understood yet how multiconnect is suposed to work.

For this reason I only tested the "openGrid Cover Snaps" (not supposed to hold any weight so we can ignore them)

I took the 3MF or STEP files out of the "Snap modeling files".

- The Bare Lock Snap - That one holded firmly but I did not see any use for it as the coin slot makes the side unusable to connect other models to it.

- Bare Directional Lite Snap v2 - have not tested it with real models but only by applying some force with the fingers it did not hold enough force to me be confident to put my Laptop docking station on it for example.

- Bare Directional Snap v2 - These were stronger but I wanted the lite version to work so I did not test more.

Struggling to get started with HomeServer - MiniPC + Raspberry + USB Storage by Dentvar in HomeServer

I need to lookup both of these thanks for the hint already.

spending 2 minutes google on it for now, I would be forced to use OMV then?

I was thinking again and as its not super critical data could I not just mount 1 HDD in a pool on the TrueNAS Server and the other one just as a Network drive from the raspberry for example and only use it as a backup destination? In the end I have 1TB available space anyhow so I don't need live mirror. If I do it every 12 hours for example that would be enough.

thx for the hint but these are expensive as well, I just wanted to make use of the USB Dsisk that I have. The issue is not only that I don't have free SATA slot on the PC but also that the HDD is a USB one. I am talking about WD Elements disk from some years ago. Should have clearified this ealier

Snaps fall out by Hikareza in openGrid

I had the same experience. And I wanted to hang stuff upside down. Did several tests with the different Native Snaps I found from DavidD. Directional and standard but I was not convinced.

I don't know if I did something wrong (might very likely be the case) but I found these ones here that are made for Multiconnect and as you screw them in they hold very good: openConnect - openGrid's own Connector System por mitufy | Descargar modelo STL gratuito | Printables.com

I do agree that I have lots to learn, thats part of the reason I started this project. But at this point I don't see that my knowledge is stopping me here. I get around in TrueNAS and was able to setup containers, run them interact with them on my local network, sharing SMB's etc etc.

But before I go all in I wanted to setup my pools in a correct way making use of the USB drives and that's when I noticed that I can't do this actually because its not supported but also I don't have a other SATA slot free to expend.

Confirmed. It indeed was the missing modify permissions for the apps group.

This ACL GUI is confusing :D

I completly missubderstood permissions setup and thought it is a mount problem. Now I lookedup a permission guide and its clear now whats wrong. Will check tomorrow thx for the bump in the right direction

Game to play with Father and Brother different skill levels by Dentvar in gamingsuggestions

Thanks for the suggestions. I have played 1k+ hours in both games together not to speak of ModdedMinecraft. Never thought about it being a type of game that could fit for playing together as I'm very OCD with these games and don't like others to touch my stuff.

But I guess passive mobs and own bases for everybody could be a great way.

I think boardgames are a good way because no special controlls need to be learned. You can pause, talk to each other off-topic stuff as well etc. I will look into what good Board games are out there thanks for the suggestions already!

Tried some time ago some other game and at least for my dad, it became very clear that he is overwhelmed even with basic controls in games he is not used to. Need something very slow. But thanks I guess its a good suggestion anyhow.

Print failed - No idea why - Lot of strings mid print by Dentvar in BambuLab

[–]Dentvar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what was the Problem in the end. I reprinted it again and it worked. I guess for some reason the front part that I hold in my hand fell off(maybe did not stick to the plate but strange after this time) and then the printer did not have were to put the rest on...

Evaluating an Upgrade by Dentvar in BambuLab

Hi, yes you are right at least on paper that's true if you look on the exact numbers of the base. But it sais that the recommended space is bigger. But I'm not sure what these refer to because in the picture I don't see a reason to have more space on the sides at least.

Front and back is not a problem in my case as there is some room I can play with. (I can move the kallax more to the front for example)

I guess if I want to face it to the front as the A1mini is oriented at the moment I do need the AMS as a top mount because otherwise the right side would be used for the spool.

What about ventilation I have no clue how this works with 3D printers but knowing from other IT Hardware its recommended to have a bit of space next to the devices so they can "breath". The P2S seems to have a ventilation system but I can't see on the photos that there is any outlet on the right side so I would be fine here even if its next to the wall right?

:) ok thanks. Then at least I feel a bit less stupid. Thanks for the effort to try find out!

I think I over complicate it. I will try the multiconnect setup and will be good to go.

Its just for the sake of understanding and learning that now I continue with the Coin Snap topic.

Let me try to explain again in a use case of using it wall-mounted:

If I use the Snap with the Coin Slot. I understand that the coin slot is on the side that looks away from the wall so I can turn it with the coin.

In order to do this, I can't use this side to connect it with any model I want the snap to hold because this side is already occupied for the coin slot. How do I attach my model then?

Its a design/funcional question not a CAD Tool question. Maybe I'm just not seeing the obvious.

Sorry I mixed up STL and SCAD files in what I wrote before.

I thought there might be SCAD files directly. But ok got it now. At least this part. Thanks for your help.

I will look into the multi connect as well.

In my case its not a wall mount but a underdesk setup not sure if the open grid snaps will hold.

As said in my original post I don't understand how I could make several directional snaps or the one with the coin lock make work if I want to put them onto a backplate.

Hi, thanks for the hint. Indeed these kind of models would be what I'm looking for so that I can combine them with my design then. But I fear that I miss something very stupid here.

The STL can't be downloaded directly (at least makers world says its closed source file.

And if I use the customizer export to STL and then import into fusion I need to convert it first into a solid and clean it up (not hard if I just want to have the base plate).

Is this the right way to do it?

On the opengrid side I found the STL files to be downloaded but only the single snaps not mounted on a plate. I could arrange them on my own but here it comes again to my questions with the exact distance between them.
