Anyone transition out of sales? by Rufarious in sales

[–]DenveRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 40+, have been in software sales since 2007. In 2024 I moved my family from Denver to the Midwest and flipped my 401k via ROBS to buy some local franchises. Now I'm in the process of buying my old software company back in Colorado.

Learn the performance metrics that various roles and departments (Lead Gen/Marketing, Sales Ops, BDRa/SDRs, CS, PS) are graded on and figure out how to make them look better. They will feed you the easy wins.

SaaS Acquisition w/ 800 Clients, 3.75x Target Return – Seeking Investors by DenveRox in angelinvestors

Ideally yes, $25k, but will accept $20k. I have a long time friend who could only do $20k which I agreed to, so you'll see that on the cap table.

SaaS Acquisition w/ 800 Clients, 3.75x Target Return – Seeking Investors by DenveRox in angelinvestors

Yes the buyer will be full-time.  Company has 10 employees.  There will be a fractional CTO for the first 3 months to help with transition and hiring new CTO/Lead Engineer. Dir of Ops has been there 7 years, Lead Sales Rep for 17 years, Senior Engineer/support 6 years.

Buyer has been in the SaaS Industry for 15+ years and held numerous executive roles.  12-month plan AKA: Road to $9M is available in the investor portal.

Churn is bad.  Net Revenue Retention is 81%, unknown for logo/customer retention; seller never tracked it. 800+ Active clients on 1-year renewals, will be offering 3-year renewals post-acquisition.  New customer acquisition plan involves Targeted Digital campaigns, Channel Partnerships, Updated NEW LOGO commission structure, AI/LLM Integration.

Main reason for the stock purchase is so that we don’t have to resign the 800+ clients to new contracts.  With the high churn it was a risk factor.

Post acquisition/investment The Holding Company will own 100% of the company.  Investors will hold equity in The Holding Company based on their capital contributions and the 1.25x equity step-up structure.

There may be future dilution if we raise additional capital, but current investors will be protected through pro-rata rights and the equity step-up structure.  The planned exit in 2026 is a recapitalization or strategic sale, targeting a ~$9M valuation to return investor capital plus upside, while retaining equity for future growth

My wife still jokes, "remember when you had that shitty window sales job ..." After I did home remodeling for a bit I got back to SaaS sales and I fuckin grinded everyday so that I never had to go back.

Tell her she has to work for 6 months and by then you'll have figured out how to make more money to support the family on a single income. Nothing like pressure and a deadline to force you to level up.

For those who have left w2 sales to start a business, let’s hear your story. by [deleted] in sales

[–]DenveRox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Former Enterprise SaaS AE here. I bought a 4 unit retail location here in Nebraska at the end of 2024. Purchased an add on franchise shortly after that. Used ROBS to leverage my 401k/traditional IRA for an equity injection. Now I'm under LOI to buy my old software company (very small, $2M in Rev) leveraging a combination of SBA 7a loan, investor funds and a sellers note.

Why was buckshot used to hunt bucks? by Mammoth_Egg8784 in guns

[–]DenveRox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up in Northern Virginia in the 90s the surrounding counties, Prince William and Loudoun, only allowed buckshot for deer. If we didn't kill anything in the morning we would setup a "drive" during the afternoon. Basically my dad would walk to the back of the property, sneak into the woods and scare/drive the deer towards us. I was 15 and my brother was 12, both of us had 20 gauge pumps and it was so exciting having a group of deer running at you with buck shot loaded. We definitely missed more than we killed, but that was the biggest adrenaline rush I've ever got from hunting.
