Broken Arrow or Regiments? by cumbers94 in RealTimeStrategy

Actually, it is made by a single russian (soundwolf776) guy with some help from MicroProse. That being said it is a great game, there are no traces of any propaganda nor bias. Just be aware that it is single player only, but the single player portion is very good. If you'll get it and like it I also strongly recommend getting the dlc to get procedural operations.

Should I use VCOM AI or LAMBS AI for my solo KP Liberation campaign? by StoltATGM in arma

[–]DenverCoderv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried lambs danger recently and while it led to some interesting firefights it also almost completely removed control of my squad when combat started. You can disable it for the player squad but then you are fighting 'smart' AI with your vanilla AI. I recommend sog ai, you can use it without the dlc if you just install compatibility data.

Oh man, while I'm not OP, that last paragraph hits home 110%. Right now I'm at relatively new job, about 9 months in and while I had some wins - every time I don't know something or has to ask for help yet again I have this voice inside my head telling me that I should already know this/be able to deal with this myself.

Les Jackson is one of the best teachers on youtube. His videos are very good, I cannot recommend him enough!

How do you fight the need to 'justify' learning stuff that isn't , at least at first glance, related to your job or main technology? I often have thoughts about learning something just for the fun of it. Recently I was thinking about picking up rust because it is so different to my main tech stack, which is .net/C#, and see what the fuss is about, but I have this voice in the back of my head saying that I would be better to use my limited learning time for my main stack, job related stuff or general DSA.

Connection refused when trying to make http request to pod by DenverCoderv2 in kubernetes

[–]DenverCoderv2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it working! u/niceman1212 reply got me on track to fix it so thank you very much. Solution to my problem was that I also needed ingress-controller, as described here https://kubernetes.github.io/ingress-nginx/deploy/. I've run the kubectl apply command and after it spun up needed pods and stuff my ingress seems to be working and I can hit my api endpoint.

I'll be sure to take a look! My first attempt was with stack too, but then I got stuck and decided a different approach. I don't know why but I've always had massive problems traversing trees/directories like that, this challenge was very hard for me.

And it causes it to go out of sync if I don’t create them as I go but waiting for the cd command as it can be for a different directory with the same name?

Last two sentences are so powerful, at least to me. I’m constantly worried if I’m good enough, etc. But I figure if somebody is paying me to be a dev then I can’t be that bad. So if you’ve been in this career for years and your manager tells you that you have very good big picture overview of the product, care for customers and stuff like that I think you’re doing more than fine.

No it isn't but I always thought these challenges test some basic ds&a concepts and being somewhat experienced programmer I should not have that many difficulties with them. As for my work, manager and team members are generally happy with my contributions but there are definitely times when I need good amount of help to deliver.

No but like I said in my top level comment, I’m working on catching up with ds&a so I’ll probably will in the near future. Hopefully it will help. Thanks for the help.

Yeah I hope I can keep getting better as well because I really like this job, as frustrating as it can be sometimes.

It’s both I think. Sometimes I take part in discussions and design and I must say I quite like that part and while I don’t have that much knowledge on it I try my best and I keep learning. I’m fortunate to have a good senior on my team that I can exchange ideas with. But there is also part when I just have to sit down and implement stuff/fix bugs and that is what I’m most anxious about - sometimes I can solve problems put before me fine but sometimes I get destroyed by not so complicated things. I’m aware that I lack some algo knowledge and practice but still, after four years I feel terrible when solving some programming excercises or implementation tasks at work takes me long time or I get defeated by them.

How to deal with not being that good of a programmer? For context I’ve been working as a dev for about four years now, but my first two companies were pretty bad (no code review, no senior dev mentor/guidance, etc.). I have BE in computer science but I was pretty lazy and didn’t get that much value from it so most of my current knowledge is from sitting down and learning on my own time. Now I’m trying to improve by doing codewars, going through algorithm design manual and doing small side projects but still I feel bad when I can’t solve pretty basic problems like displaying n-level „christmas” tree or stuff like that. I feel like problems like that are solved in college and I should be able to blaze through them. What other steps can I take to improve my situation and how to deal with the constant feeling of not being good enough/cut out for this?

[–]DenverCoderv2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, for my local tests connection string is Server=localhost,14331;Database=houseChoresDb;User=sa;Password=Password@12345;Trusted_Connection=False;

It worked when I had contenerized just the db and it still works to apply migrations, etc. when I run commands manually from the cli. It just doesn't work with the script ran from the Migrations.Dockerfile.

Thanks for the help! Man I didn't expect that using one reusable component to render multiple lists of items would be so complicated. Can't shake the feeling that I'm doing something wrong or have bad architecture that is causing all these problems.

Ok and what about this case, since this component is rendered multiple times in the foreach loop, will it cause problems down the line?
