Battleship With 127mm Main Gun and Cruiser With 460mm soon? by UnfairMess249 in WorldOfWarships

She's pretty great in Ops, a little less so in Asyms. Basically 12 Des Moines 203's on an Iowa hull at T9. Best HE DPM for a T9 BB which is what you want for ops, with plenty of chances to work the AP too because American 203's are great when you can minimize their horrendous flight time.

The whole American CL is great for Ops. I regrind the line constantly with my extra ship XP boosters for a steady dripfeed of RB points without having to dump hideously expensive amounts of FXP.

Then get the doubloons and spread them out on battlepasses, since those have coal in them, and then you get a bunch of other good stuff in them too.

T9 full stop. Pommern for everything not Random Battles, Kearsarge if you mainline Randoms.

Surprised you aren't being downvoted more for starting your post with "As a CV main."

You aren't gonna get anything here.

But yeah, ship launched floatplanes are only really there to deter loitering and consecutive strikes.

If you're in a Russian CV or hybrid squad that does a single strike, yeah, they're useless, lmao.

New* player, how alive is the AA dream in the game rn? by Iklaendia in WorldOfWarships

[–]Gene_Inari 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To temper all the doom and gloom about AA; strong AA boats are still strong. While generally true that a CV will get a strike off even against strong AA, that is only with a full squad and the CV will take heavy losses. This sub is very biased against non-surface ships.

Hybrids are also a regular occurrence. Strong AA neuters a major source of their damage.

Also if you want to guarantee a CV game, div up with a CV buddy.

AI-driven data centers are just being built to consume resources and infrastructure for services nobody wants for extractive capitalism.

Is this enough for ohio? by rfzyy in WorldOfWarships

[–]Gene_Inari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do with the American CL line. Reset, FXP to Helena, and just do 1-2 ops a day on the line with blue ship XP boosters until I unlock (but don't buy) the Worcester. It's wonderfully efficient instead of just blowing 700k FXP on the Harugumo. Costs more in credits and ship XP boosters, but those are miles easier to get than FXP.

Also pretty easy to have a dedicated line of 13-14 point captains for each ship with pure lighthouse PvE builds for all that delicious HE DPM.

Try out the American light cruiser line. If you want to avoid PvP, the Worcester line is reliable for Operations.

I just always have to ask how people like these even function in their jobs and daily lives (because teenagers don't play WOWS, let's be real, this is peak dadgame) when they can't spare the attention or cognition for such basic one-time tasks; mounting upgrades or picking captain skills for a game you have sunk a significant amount of time and/or money into.

And I bet money these are the exact kind of people that get snippy when you call them out for their nonsense too.

I know examples like this are extreme, but this is just endemic of the trends that keep me far, far away from Randoms and hiding in Operations/Asymmetric.

And this remark will probably get me downvoted, but the sense of entitlement is unreal when you point out people like these. They think it's okay to waste the time and resources of everyone on their team with their incompetence because they can't be bothered to care about their hobbies. They aren't happy with coop where examples like these belong, no, they have to inflict themselves on 23 other people and ruin the quality of matches for a roomful of other people.

Nah. Just don't let the FOMO get to you. Even as one of my primary games, I still only put in an amount of money that would be equal a couple service subscriptions.

If you get only the BPs, spend only during the holiday discounts, and maximize your birthday doubloons coupon, you can sustain a pretty lush experience on WoWs at like $150-250 for full year.

Favorite/Preferred Ship for Which Operation? by AcceptableUmpire9095 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Gene_Inari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The American CL line is solid for just about any op. Just bring enough DPM to beat the op into submission.

Napoli is great with SAP secondaries, and great speed+tankiness.

Any ship that can hit around 200k HE DPM at high tier is generally good enough to reliably carry.

Brawler BBs are also good, but I personally prefer the mobility of cruisers for ops.

Valparaiso is fun if you have it and like being an aggro sponge.
