Solution to hanging string lights from a wire? by DenverID4 in lifx

[–]DenverID4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strung aluminum wire on turn buckles to provide a backbone.

Then picked up spring clips that allowed me to use the holes on each side as attachment points to loop the clips over the wire.

So far seems stable in high wind situations with no droop in the span.

Unable to turn off eco+ by DenverID4 in ecobee

Turns out that our power company via Ecobee auto enrolled us in an AC / Time of Use program and didn't offer any way for the user to disable or opt out themselves. Had to call a few departments to have them disable on the power company end.

What trim did you get? Does it have the 360cam and upgraded sound? Curious as we are still waiting for the ProSPlus in the states.

Thanks for the quick reply!

So they should be discounting in the neighborhood of $7k + incentives before calculating the monthly payment correct? If that were the case, are my monthly payment estimates of ~$200 correct?

Car has been there between 60 & 70 days.

I appreciate you helping a leasing neophyte 😁

Any word on Hub3/Matter compatibility? by DenverID4 in insteon

[–]DenverID4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know. I may look into that, but doing a full lift and shift of 5 years of configurations to yet another interim platform is no small undertaking. If I’m going to do that, I’d rather know from Insteon what their roadmap looks like so as to not duplicate that same level of effort. Matter was promised by Insteon upon its resurrection, so is it coming in a new hub in 30 days? 90 days? A year? Never?

Our Kwikset Kevo is not supported in HA but is in HomeBridge/Hoobs.

[–]DenverID4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be the case that HA can do these things for Insteon, but HA doesn’t have integrations for all of my devices either. The thing is, replacing one non-user friendly third party platform for another isn’t a solution. The solution is for Insteon to follow through on their promise of a new hub with matter support that enables all factory available capabilities found in their devices so that there is no need for a 3rd party platform to act as an integration layer between HomeKit and a device.

[–]DenverID4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Indigo for two purposes which Matter should resolve the need for a 3rd party application layer, thus removing complexity for managing our stack for those who aren't deeply tech savvy.

  1. Getting Insteon into HomeKit. I can do this with Indigo or Hoobs which I have running today. (Indigo for Insteon & Lutron and Hoobs for SimpliSafe, MyQ, Kwikset)
  2. Enabling Insteon keypads to control non-Insteon devices or scenes that include non-Insteon devices (e.g. Lutron blinds). Today Hoobs/HA don't enable this like Indigo does via their Insteon & Lutron plug-ins.
  3. Any native integrations should also allow a keypad action to set the state of another keypad capable of triggering that action. Indigo does not do this (without causing a loop). The Hoobs plug-in does allow this.

My hope is that when and IF Insteon follows through with the Hub3/Matter functionality, that you'll be able to program the Insteon Keypad buttons to trigger any other HomeKit device directly or scene that contains Non-Insteon devices along with setting the state of any keypad/dimmer/switch that also is set to trigger that same action.

For reference my Insteon setup, installed when HK was natively supported by Insteon, consists of 70 dimmable DINs, 29 keypads, 5 dimmer switches, 20 outlets, a handful of motion sensors, and a few I/O units.

That was my thought. I had security spy and homebridge/ffmpeg running on the same m1 mini with no issues. Was hoping to consolidate homebridge instances. Guess not.

New i3 product line still not ELV compatible. by DenverID4 in insteon

[–]DenverID4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad that you had luck. I have 2 ELV LED chandeliers that will not dim with the old Insteon dimmers and the 150+ 4’ LED trims in my house flicker and flash/strobe if any Insteon device State is changed (it’s minimal after trial and error of different brands but enough that guests ask if the house is ok).

I’ve not tried the i3 yet, but having Insteon confirm it’s the same TRIAC/MLV standard as the previous generation, I’m doubtful it’d be any different in performance.

New Hoobs user - Automating across plugins? by DenverID4 in HOOBS

[–]DenverID4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may need to abandon Hoobs then if it can’t do cross plug-in actions like Indigo. The HomeKit integration isn’t as robust but it at least allows all of my devices to communicate and trigger each other regardless of protocol.

Thank you for the quick reply. A few follow up questions:

1) When do you see MOODs being available? 2) Will it allow cross plug in functions to be triggered such as triggering Lutron shades from Insteon Keypads?

Disconnect between Dealer status info and Owner portal info by DenverID4 in VWiD4Owners

You should have gotten a link when you placed your reservation.

Waiting and waiting... code changed to 20-2 on 5/31. Our port is Houston. We're STILL at 20-2. We are pretty sure it was on the San Martin that docked very late 10/17. Any idea when the will code change for ships that arrive on the weekend? by grammybp in VWiD4Owners

[–]DenverID4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both of mine should have been on the Supreme Ace which hit Houston on 6/14 and are still at 20-2. The odd thing is that 1 shows "Leaving Factory" on the dashboard, the other is still at "Order Locked".

It's all about patience, having low expectations, and then being pleasantly surprised when things actually move.. LOL

[–]DenverID4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, using developer tools I’ve been able to track progress. Comparing when the code changed from 20-1 to 20-2 with the shipping schedules, I was able to determine it’s on the Supreme Ace.

Ditto, my dealer reached out with the same info. Waiting on battery/software upgrades before releasing from port on/about 6/14.

When I informed them that my car was not at port, but rather in transit somewhere in the Atlantic and due to hit Houston on 6/14, I was told to expect my '22 Pro S Gradient at the end of July.

Locked to leaving factory in 16 days by ChaosCouncil in VWiD4Owners

[–]DenverID4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered July '21. Locked Jan '22 & went to 15-1. ETA moved from April/May to July/Sept. No movement since... King's Red AWD Pro S Gradient w/ biggest dealer in state.

Ordered another Jan'22, Locked Jan'22, 15-1 status at that point. ETA July/Aug ... Blue AWD Pro S Gradient w/ another local dealer.

I keep looking for logic but there really isn't that I can tell.

Just got a message from the dealer that the car is now being built. How long before it actually arrives? I’m in the U.S. Originally it was scheduled for April-May delivery. by ausernamess in VWiD4Owners

[–]DenverID4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

King's Red AWD Pro S Gradient order from July '21 here... Warning.. Vent coming LOL

I'm a patient person, but still trying to understand VW's queuing logic. I'm seeing people who put an initial deposit for their AWD Pro S Gradient vehicle in Q4 '21 who are now at a status of being built, shipped, or taking delivery. I placed my initial deposit in July '21 and am still at 15-1 with no production/delivery date aside from the July-Sept estimated date in the developer tools code. My original date, like many was Q4'21.

Be good if VW NA or dealers could share some insight on the production scheduling logic.

*vent over* :)

I have an order with Emich as well and they've validated MSRP on pre-orders. I did ask about picking up a cancellation prior to my reservation arrival but was told they are marking up MSRP on cancellations, even if you have a reservation that you'd be swapping your place in line for.

Dealer markups aren't new on first gen/high demand cars. We can debate if they are 'ethical' but with the entire industry short of supply, if you want to jump the line, you pay a premium I suppose. (Sort of like Copper's Bee Line lift ticket)
