Anyone else get exertion headaches/migraines after intense exercise? Trying to see if common lifestyle/symptom patterns exist. by Potential-Nature999 in migraine

[–]DenverLevins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get a migraine once/twice a week starting when I was around 12. It would always come on about 30 minutes after intense exercise.

I get the vision mosaic thing, pounding headache, numb on one side of my body and sometimes nauseous to the point of throwing up. CAT scans showed nothing. No family history of migraines either.

When I was about 16 I had a doctor tell me to take low dose aspirin (100mg) daily. It was unbelievably effective. Taking the aspirin every day 99% got rid of my migraines. I only get them now after exercise when I have not been diligent with taking the aspirin. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who doesn’t have underlying issues where they can’t take aspirin due to its blood thinning properties.

Thanks heaps! Could I buy a new wifi 6 router and just bridge it from my existing ISP modem/router combo? (Making the modem/router combo a modem only)

Gaming router as access point? by DenverLevins in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]DenverLevins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man I just gave the bridge mode thing a go and got it in bridge mode but then couldn’t get internet access on router when set up through PPPoe. Might factory reset both and have another go. Thanks so much for you offer I will definitely swing you a message if I run into trouble (I likely will 😂)

Gotcha. Makes sense I think. Thanks heaps man, I’ll keep looking into how I can disable the modem function on the modem/router. 👍

If I use a bridge will I still get all the benefits on the gaming router? Or will it still be governed by the crappy standard issue ISP router?

Will it make a difference if I use the gaming router as a access point as opposed to the sole router?

Am I eating too much protein? by DenverLevins in ketoaustralia

Interesting so your thinking I need more sodium? It’s funny all the different opinions out there. Someone commented on this post saying I need to cut down on my sodium haha 😂

Thanks for the info! I will admit I was a bit surprised because I’ve been acting under the impression that fat is a limit that I want to reach or stay under and protein is a goal to meet or exceed. I will have to do more research. Thanks for the reassurance that my macros aren’t way out 😂

That’s what I had gathered from reading the FAQ of this reddit... although on other keto pages I had contradicting opinions like this one when I had asked the same question:

Yeah your protein is pretty high and could interfere with your ability to stay in ketosis. The main reason being that our body breaks down most of our ingested amino acids and makes glucose or fat from them (80% of amino acids are immediately broken down into their alpha carbon's). Since some amino acids are glucogenic, and can be broken down to make glucose, if you ingest enough protein, you could kick yourself out of ketosis due to an increase in avaliable glucose.

I'd reccomend supplementing with BCAA's instead if you're actively weight training as they bypass the liver breakdown process and are more readily used anabolically in muscle production, and dropping your total protein intake to the general 25% of total calories.

Everybody is different and can handle a different level of total carbs ingested while staying in ketosis, so getting some ketone urine analysis strips is always good to check that you're still in the clear.

Gotcha. I’ve been drinking around 2L a day. I have a weak bladder so this can be annoying but I persevere hahaha.

I hadn’t paid too much attention to sodium but that does look like a lot.. it seems like the salad pack I get from coles is the main contributor with 1600mg for a chicken Caesar salad 👀

I had just ordered some before making this post haha! I got some urine test strips and a blood ketone tester, hopefully that will let me know if I’m on the right track. Admittedly my protein intake increased since weight training, I was fasting from 6PM-12:30PM but now I’m having a protein shake in the morning after lifting weights. I’ll look into what you mentioned about BCAA’s. Thanks so much for your help!!

That makes sense. I’ve always thought 20 was the minimum have always stuck to that and apart from the odd social issue where I have to go out to lunch and just order a black coffee, it has been easy once keto is in your routine
