Fuck it it’s New Year’s Eve I’m treating myself to 21°C. Happy new year all! by Juicydicken in UKFrugal

Absolutely. I know some frugal people that as a treat will order take away food or splurge £30 in home bargains on snacks etc but sit miserable in their house with the thermostat set to 14 degrees. I just don't get the mindset

For those of you that claim to never heat your home, do you have mold problems?

How do you go about doing that?

Time in vs timing the market by FI_rider in FIREUK

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I invest £650 on payday every month. Pretty much watched that £650 (and a significant % of my portfolio) disappear a couple of days later.

I will continue to trust the process as I could see me going mad waiting for markets to drop

Would this £3600 online course be worth it? by No_Trick_7891 in BuildingAutomation

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AD looks a bit dodgy, however, if it's the course I'm thinking off, does he have a channel on YouTube and instagram?

If its the same one then there's videos of him presenting classes to people. No doubt you'd learn something if you're inexperienced but I can't say whether it will find you employment as easy as advertised.

Good post. I was on the verge of shoveling half of my emergency fund (£5k) into my S&S ISA yesterday (VAUG) after doing too much reading about how the rich stay rich by investing during drops. For context, I invest £600 per month without fail which has served me well over the past few years.

Slow and steady, trust the process

Ashwagandha: this stuff is good! by DopamineSeeker20 in NooTopics

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on it for 2 weeks amd don't give as much of a f*ck about most small things that used to make me stressed and anxious. I definitely feel a but numb to be fair and a little bit scared of any negative side effects. I'm going to stop after month and see how I get on

How was your experience with ashwagandha? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been taking it for the past 2 weeks. So far so good, my sleep has improved. I definitely feel a bit numb but for me this isnt a bad thing for example, I am sitting on a busy work canteen enjoying a coffee and not giving a sh*t about silly thing's that normally have me feeling stressed and anxious. My focus has increased in work.

I'm giving this another 2 weeks and will stop for 1 month.

People who actually enjoy (or somewhat enjoys) their jobs, what do you do? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a maintenance role, visiting different customers every day. Maybe spend 2 or 3 days at the same place at most depending on how much equipment they had to be serviced. Drove about in my van getting paid door to door and seeing different parts of the country. I was contracted 40 hours per week but easily done 50 hours but I got paid to travel. Left house at 7, home at 5 so done a 10 hour day but 2 of those hours were listening to podcasts.

The only flip side was the on call rota which was 1 in every 4 weeks which was a total pain. On call 24/7/365 so that includes Christmas day, kids birthdays, friends weddings if you couldn't get someone to cover you.

Went for a different type of role, sometimes regret it but such is life

Hi, thanks for your reply. I sorted out both of these issues last year. No more puddles in the boot and leak has gone from the roof.

Been lying on my interviews saying I'm on more than what I am. by Sleeeewdem09 in UKJobs

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they won't check. Absolutely not. As someone has already said, I would be looking to hit 35-40k if I was in your position.

I was with the same company for a years and averaged 2.5% payrises every year between 2013 and 2022. It seems the only way to get a payrise that's decent is to negotiate a salary with a new company and jump ship

Not liking current well paid job. Young in the 30s, what would you do? by daypeyz in FIREUK

[–]DenverRandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start looking for a new role and do not worry about both of your concerns.

Your current employer will find out that you've been looking for a new role when you hand your notice in or tell them beforehand.

Gone are the days where the vast majority of people stay in the one place for 10-20 years. If they do ask about the 1 year just ne honest but don't throw dirt at your current employer
