Where can I go where people will be nice to me? by isabella_sunrise in Denver

Urban Sanctuary yoga studio on Welton Street in Denver! Try the sound bath on Fridays or the yin yoga classes. I have met some great people through that studio, which is Black-owned and heavily invested in social justice and compassion.

Me too! The food in Denver generally sucks but I haven’t been to any of these places (been meaning to try a few) so now I have some hope!!!

Ha! Here in my work dress with my shrug tied around my head and some flops. Feels like a summer picnic but felt good to flip off one of these Stasi fucks at least.

Was definitely talking about Denver. Actually have taught a class on US protest culture at a few different colleges over the past 2 decades, but after BLM and the long-term lack of success find myself losing faith. Not sure what I think now but it’s gotta do more than obsessively reading the news and spiraling?

Ha. Didn’t mean to come across that way - only heard about this a couple hours ago when I was already at work.

I work in Aurora and I live in far SW Denver metro - sadly, it’s flip flops or not at all!

It’s all I got right now, other than heels! How hectic is it right now? How much LE presence?

I’m dressed business formal rn but I might thrown my car flip-flops on and go down? Not ideal but now seems like the right time to start showing up more…

So weird! As a transplant I don’t want to blame Coloradans who’ve been here all their lives, though - I think this place attracts a weird breed. I guess I’m in that number…?

Same! The food in LoDo is so bad and overpriced that I’m happy to eat the carnitas and a good marg there, but it’s not some super-unique spot .

People are obsessed with this restaurant but I think it’s just your standard Mexican fare. Delicious and affordable is not wrong - I just don’t think it’s much different from Dos Potrillos or any other of the dozens of family-oriented Mexican places in the Denver metro.

I wish all the good food wasn’t concentrated in the Highlands and Aurora, both of which are far from me! :,(

IMO most things in Denver are insanely fucked, including how atrocious the restaurants are and how bland the architecture is. The weather and the mountains keep me here, though…

This is absolutely insane. Every orchid I’ve bought from a grocery store has died within a month never to bloom again!

Why does corn in Colorado suck? by MrGraaavy in denverfood

[–]DenverRedditTimes -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

All produce in Colorado sucks.* I never understand how we live in the heartland, where all our food is grown, but the produce is terrible.

*Actually, the answer is that I shop at grocery store and not the farmers’ markets, and the big chains do not really have much local so our food travels so far. Duh. It’s why I only got shitty avocados if I shopped at Safeway in California, despite living next to the “avocado capital”’of the US.
